I also spend hours looking at catalogues . I think that it's not always our fault when plants fail !
Some gardens just don't have the right conditions for particular plants :
Yesterday, I admired the beautiful china blue Siberian iris , which comes up in my father's garden year in and year out .
It was just a tiny plant from a neighbour's garden .
And then , I recall that I planted a dozen Siberian iris in my garden and not one of them took .
I've grown magnificent Ensata iris and my father's have failed .
