Protecting climber from mower/strimmer - any ideas

I am favouring the slate roof tiles, if I can get some.

Otherwise I will probably go for the broken plant pot idea.

We use slate roof tiles, pushed into the soil, as edging.

Flexible lawn edging might be a good option, like this picture which is sold in B&M and some garden centres.

What shysal suggests or log roll placed around the stem/trunk.

How about something like this, mostly above soil level and curved around?

A piece of chicken wire or an garden fork/spade strategically placed. That's what I do. The fork/spade sometimes has to be repositioned.

I've used some heavy old roof tiles from the apex part of the roof .

I found them on a skip .

Otherwise , a broken terracotta pot is a great idea .

To explain further, use a large pot and stick the lower half in the ground, slope the top edge against the plant. I’m away from home so can’t take a photo.

How about a Brocken half of a terracotta pot. I use these to protect my clematis roots from too much sun.
