ideas for short metal fence

That must be very annoying.

Usually places like B&M and Home Bargains do a short sturdy black fence that would just knock into the ground - they hook onto one another. I use them to keep my dogs off my plants. Should prevent bikes crossing anyway.

My daughter had a problem with people taking shortcuts and marching over her lawn - right outside her kitchen window! She used a row of obelisk plant support frames, pushed into the ground, with a wire top woven between them. It's cheaper than a fence, has created a good visual barrier and she's planted climbers beneath them.

Panacea do some railings - just over a metre long per section and about £30 . I've spotted them in B&Q but they do a nice pointy "gothic" shape one on their website.
They are apparently sold through garden centres mainly.
