A stranger in the camp

Those little light seeds travel so well on a breeze that the plant has 'travelled' widely (using the road and rail network) from it's native Asia and Europe - to become the local pretty weed in many places.

The insects here love it - so I don't mind. Here, we have light and dark pink varieties, along with occasional white ones.

Yep, looks like valerian, with their reddish stem, a lovely plant that grows where it chooses but I've moved a few of them and they are still growing happily.

We have then in the front garden sprouting from gravel never had them before.

I like the Valerian plant and noticed last year for the first time when it flowered I had some in amongst some other plants. I’ll pull it up and plant somewhere else. Have looked in same spot it was growing before but there are too many dandelions.

I think it's valerian too. It's very pretty but eats mortar. We mistakenly let some grown in the drive wall because it looked so pretty. Big mistake, it cost a fortune to get it out of the wall and rebuild.

Looks like valerian which seeds easily. A good nectar plant but can be invasive if you let it get a hold especially in cracks in paving, mortar or near drains. Comes in shades of pink-red, pink and white.
