Just watched the preview/preparation. Some stunning show gardens to look forward to as usual. When I’m not gardening I’ll be glued to the telly. It’s my favourite week of summer.

The weather forecast is great as well!

That hat is permanently glued to his head - probably wears it in bed!

Callistemon21 Wed 24-May-23 22:35:25

Nothing to do with the gardens but isn't Joe Swift looking more like his father, especially in that hat!!

MayBee70 Wed 24-May-23 21:44:41

I was saving it all up to watch in one go but my Humax box has stopped working again sad

I can’t decide which show garden I like the best. Torn between Sarah Price and Chris Beardshaw’s. They couldn’t be more different. 🤔

Dandelions - the bees love the pollen and the birds particularly sparrows love the seed

Win win.

😁
But they take over!

I should take a photo of some of the fields near here 😲

Love it 😍

Almost forgot, weeds, or wildflowers are the flavour of the month this year, along with rubble and junk.

😂 Some of our neighbours are into that look, one has tastefully added an old fridge too.

Oreo 😂

I hope the wildflowers cover it up soon!

Oh, the dandelions are coming up very tall this year so we just have to hope, DP says if it’s still there in a few weeks he’ll ask the neighbour if she wants him to take it away in his van.Weeds are one thing but household items in front gardens are another!😖

Can you deadhead their dandelions before the seeds blow everywhere?

Yes, I know they are now a desirable weed but they take over.

Tip: Don't plant oregano, anyone!!
It's like a weed, gets everywhere and has tenacious roots too.

Heard on radio they’re embracing weeds as a feature at Chelsea this year. A third of the gardens have them as a feature. A weed is a plant, just not in the right place etc.

Oh are you member Fleurpepper? Have you been to Chelsea this year or watched it on TV?

^Well of course- but so very different to their well established gardens, is my point, as a Member^

Quite a few of us are members, Fleurpepper, only don’t feel the need to keep mentioning it.

The reason I mentionned it, is to indicate that I am a keen gardener, and love visiting gardens.

What a very unpleasant post. Yes, National Trust too. Some of our favourite gardens are private however.

Watching the awards, there's actually quite a lot of interesting scientific and medicinal content in some of the entires. The Korean one especially.

^Chelsea and such shows, for me, represent all that is wrong with this world, I feel it deeply^

Defrestation and lack of habitat, the Ganges filled with plastic, the Great Pacific garbage patch three times the size of France, turtles eating plastic bags being rescued only to return in the same plight, represents all that is wrong with this world.

Chelse, with its plants, trees, rewilding projects , might seem to be anathema to you Fleurpepper but to many it's an encouragement with its more informal gardens, rewilding, oases of peace and its contributions to charity.

You may be lucky to live in the mountains with beautiful walks amongst wildflower meadows, but not everyone is lucky. If they can be inspired to plant a suburban garden, even window boxes, then that has to be a good thing.

Very good post. Well said.

And of the National Trust.

Hidcote is a partner garden with RHS

We bought our lavender bushes there.

I am just so happy seeing beautiful gardens, everyone having a nice time , being pleasant to one another.
So much better than the news.

I love the whole spirit of the Chelsea Flower Show, so many interesting new ideas to see and interpret for our own small garden. We go every few years and it has never failed to give us joy. Visiting RHS gardens is also a joy but a completely different concept. Apples and pears.

It is such an eclectic mix of styles, Calypso
Something for everyone.

Nisha Kitona's cookbooks are fantastic. Easy frugal food.

Calli, I felt just the same about CFS when I had suburban gardens in England, for allmy adult life.

We could all be inspired by the 100s of fabulous RHS and other gardens dotted all over the UK- the very best in the world.
