Can you ID this please, just appeared in lawn!

I agree with the Prunus species suggestions. We have some bullace trees and wild cherries and they send out multiple suckers that, if left, would grow into more trees.

Thanks C, I only meant that the artificial grass may be making it hard for the shoots to surface in his garden! I googled but couldn’t find either, thanks for looking and the advice re pulling them up, much obliged.

Thank you both. My neighbour has recently cut down his Plum tree which would be around 6ft away. He has artificial grass now, so perhaps the shoots are looking for somewhere to sprout. We are going away tomorrow for a week so hope we dont come home to a full orchard, or, then again ……….

I looked at the thread earlier but didn't know and couldn't find it on Google images.

But - we had to have a tree chopped down last year and it throws up dozens of suckers along the roots, so yes it could well be.
They come out quite easily if you pull them firmly but they can be just chopped down when you mow the lawn.

It could be suckers from a plum tree. I have these come up in my flower borders and the photo looks very similar.

Looks like a sapling of some sort.
