Parts of the SW have had a ban since April, including where I live in Torquay.

And north Devon 😬

I was complaining to a friend about a neighbour who had a sprinkler on his front (north facing) lawn. “Oh yes I do too,” she said so I hastily changed the subject. Yes, I’m a coward …

I hope their water is metered.

Ours is no better, though, comparatively expensive and it is not-for-profit.

We are the victims of underinvestment by the privatised water companies while they pay out massive shareholder dividends and a failure by the Tories to regulate them better. It's a monopoly and they should be taken into public ownership without compensation.

One of the best investments we made, second only to our solar panels was to have a rainwater harvesting tank sunk under the lawn.

It holds thousands of litres, can be used to flush toilets, also when watering the garden/lawn any run off water goes back into the tank.

Well hopefully it will stop them (SE Water) attempting to guilt us with emails about everyone "doing their bit" to save water. ("One person's paddling pool is another family's drinking water") How about you lot fixing the leaks? angry

The River Derwent in Cumbria has dried up at some of its headwaters near Seathwaite which is supposed to be the wettest area in England I think hoes pipe bans will be coming for us all unless these Thunder down pours they keep forecasting actually arrived.

In Kent and Sussex from the 26th June, I expect others will follow.
