Please could you help settle a discussion, and tell me what these cut flowers are called ☺

The one in the foreground, that is.

Looks like a dahlia to me

Judging by the leaf, I would say chrysanthemums.

Chrysanthemum

Thanks for your answers. The person with me was insisting they were geraniums, which I strongly disputed, but although I 'recognise' them, I couldn't say what they were.

Certainly not geraniums, but I would go for dahlias too. Could the leaf that looks like a chrysanthemum belong to one of the flowers at the back? You can't see them clearly, but I did wonder if there was something looking like chrysanthemums behind the foreground flowers.

I agree. Flowers definitely dahlias.

Chrysanthemum Haydar, widely grown commercially and part of the species Indicum within the genus.

Put the name Chrysanthemum Haydar into a search engine and you will find lots of hits like this:

Oldnproud - there is a free app that you can get on your mobile that will identify any plant, flower, shrub, tree etc. simply by taking a photograph.

My son keeps telling me about that - it is on my mental 'must have' list for as soon as I get a new phone that actually has some space left on it ☺

Definitely some lovely early Chysanthemums .

To me - they have a distinctive smell .

If in doubt , the leaf is very different from that of a dahlia .

I'm wondering if the person , who suggested that they are geraniums actually thought that they look like pelargonums - and that's a long time garden argument .

I remember a neighbour being incensed with me over 45 years ago when I suggested that her geraniums were pelargonums .

One of my friends says I don't care what they are called they are pink or whatever coloured flowers and I like 'em .
What were the flowers in my bridal bouquet , Es ?

Roses .

That's the one !
