Repair to a battery mower

I have a battery mower - about 8 years old now and going strong. One thing to check is that the airflow isn't blocked. On the grass collector box/bag there will be a little 'window' with a cover of some sort. As the grass blows into the box the air goes out of the little 'window', which eventually blocks with bits of grass and dirt. When the air blows through you can see the cover lifting. Just check that it's not been blocked with dried up grass/dirt.

Hope that makes sense - I've no idea what all these bits and pieces are really called 😄

Thanks Merlotgran Yes I'm pretty sure the repair place I took it to checked everything. It was he who said it was probably an internal electronic issue. Circuit board? It wasn't the switch which I had originally thought.

I wondered if any grans had had similar problems?

Have you tried removing the blade and making sure there is nothing entangled in the mechanism? You could also check the electrical switches for debris.
You need to find somebody with a circuit tester if you don’t have one yourself.

It makes me angry when things have such a short life.

Spear and Jackson. Bought from Argos but not used very much. The batteries were checked and one was certainly fully charged. There's a spare but that is maybe faulty.
I shall try another repairer but I don't hold out much hope Merlotgran

Are you sure the battery is OK? They don’t have a very long life and some makes are difficult to replace.

I had to scrap my five year old Flymo when the battery failed because by that time they were obsolete. 😡

Have you got a local repair cafe? I’ve taken a few things to ours, which is free (donations welcome) on a Saturday once a month, and there are some clever ‘fixers’ who would advise on what the problem is and fix it if they can?
