I’d think about an hourly rate. Remember gardeners are skilled, it can be heavy work and they often remove the stuff they’ve weeded / cut back. My gardener charges £14 an hour to mow the lawns and half a day cost for the autumn tidy. I’m north west (not a wealthy but an ordinary mixed area)

Where abouts in the country are you? I work as a gardener and am RHS qualified.I’d probably charge £50 for this job, perhaps more if it’s very overgrown or compacted. I’m in the north west.

My son is a gardener. He doesn't work for less than two hours due to overheads. He charges £25 an hour. He works in the north of England and only in well off suburbs.

I am being tested for polymyalgia, every joint hurts and I have no energy to keep my small garden tidy. How much is a reasonable payment for someone to weed 5 very small flower beds (roughly 3ft x 18in), dig out annual begonias in a long raised bed (18ft x 12in) and prune a choisya also in the raised bed. To sweep up when finished and empty into black sacks. Don’t think it would be a full day.
