Beechgrove Garden

I love Beechgrove. As a Scot I'm being a traitor wishing the lovely Brian would cut down a bit on his use of the word "wee" .. "A wee whilie back I planted some wee bulbs in this wee corner and now there's wee shoots appearing" 😄

I'd say that The Beechgrove Garden isn't losing its appeal for me. It's a timeless institution now and very practical in its approach to gardening tips. I enjoy Gardeners World as well because I like Monty Don. I hope you recover quickly from your op, Grayling1. What about a bit of indoor gardening in the meantime? I am growing herbs and peppers on a window ledge in the kitchen just now.

We love it. It’s so informative and before you know where you are half an hour has gone and the programme is over. It is so annoying that it gets cancelled on a Friday night. I know it’s shown on Sunday but we keep forgetting. I’ve just remembered now thanks to this thread and switched on for the last 10 minutes.

I used to watch this at my mother in law’s house when we visited Scotland. The garden was much smaller in those days, more like a back garden but that was long ago. Being a southerner I sometimes need myvScots husband to translate the young chap but I do like the programme.

My only complaint about Beechgrove is the constant phrase ‘Over to George in sunny Joppa’! Is Joppa always sunny?

I agree with Casdon. They approach gardening from different angles, and for that reason, I enjoy them both.

I really like beech grove and prefer it in many ways to gardeners world with Monty.
Beechgrove is practical and gives lots of useful information on what to do in the garden rather than showing us other peoples gardens which is ok but I like to have gardening tips and so on.

I think it’s comparing the practical and aspirational, to compare Beechgrove with Gardeners World, because they come at gardening from quite different perspectives. I love Beechgrove because it’s very practical, and Gardeners World because it takes you to places and ideas that are inspirational. I haven’t noticed that Beechgrove has changed much this year compared with last though, I must admit.
I also follow a few YouTube gardeners because there you can find detailed advice on specific plants when you need it.

I'm in Scotland and the seasons on Beechgrove are better aligned to me. I have watched it since it began with George and Jim and enjoyed it. Still do
