Very waterlogged area in my garden

Thankyou for the suggestions I believe there is already some drainage installed when these houses were built 5 yrs ago.
I did find a rose that will withstand the damp conditions I wonder if you know the names of your roses?

They've been planted for seven years and only one plastic label is left, it's Rosa Mme. Alfred Carriere, it has large white blooms with a pink tinge, it smells lovely, just like roses used to smell! I have three of them and a yellow variety in between each white one, but I don't know what that one's called. Enjoy your gardening 💐.

I think that the only downside I experienced with my boggy garden was the smell !
It wasn't apparent until I'd have to thin out my plants at the end of the season to ensure good growth .
That smell of decaying plants was evidence of a thriving garden .

Thanks for all the advice I really can’t bother with trying to sort out the drainage so it’s all the plants suggested with lots of gravel and gritty soil thanks, apparently all my neighbours have boggy gardens but it does dry out a bit in Summer.

Our house was built on marsh land, & kids would collect frog spawn from the surrounding area, that’s how I remember.
Years down the line I remember digging out seventy odd of those Reed, marsh grass plants (no wonder my knees are knackered).
Our grass was always boggy, plus next doors trees didn’t help as that area didn’t get any sun.
Next door had a massive plastic pipe 100cm wide x foot deep, on top of their skip, I asked if I could take it.
Husband made it into a soak away by drilling loads of holes & adding a french drain. It made a huge difference (I have to say it helps if the grass is on an incline)
Land has been dry for years & even better when neighbors took out their conifers.
Now have a beautiful lawn.

I once lived in a house with a very soggy part of the garden .
I tried to improve the drainage and got fed up with trying .
Instead I grew some plants that love boggy soil -
Beautiful yellow flag iris in profusion ,ornamental rhubarb,Hydrangeas and a variety of Astilbes in many colours as well as Marsh Marigold .
Ensata Iris love will also grow.
I love ferns and Hostas - though growing Hostas can cause annoyance as they attract slugs .

We have a north-facing fence along an area of our garden which tends to be wet. We find that astilbe do well there are provide good colour. A buddleia seems to be happy there, too.

I planted five climbing roses along a north facing wall, secured on a trellis, I covered the soil with shingle to help with drainage, they have grown really well and produce lots of sweet smelling yellow and white roses.

You need to improve drainage by maybe putting in a French drain?

Do your neighbours have similar issues?
