Lightweight lawnmower

My garden is too big for a little basic mower but if I ever move and get a smaller lawn thats east I would, only about £40.00 use it without the grassbox on. Failing that a lightweight Flymo.

Ditto with the Greenwood's cordless mower with double batteries - so easy to use and so light. Got ours from Costco but is also sold on Amazon.

I have seen second hand robot mowers on EBay. Might be worth a look? Some require a wire guide but the newer ones use gps tracking!

I've had my Greenworks mowers for 7 years, I keep the narrow one (30+) at mother-in-law's and it does a lovely job. I have a wider one (40+) at home, large garden, and it's brilliant. I walk up and down in lines and it looks impressive. I have a 100+ year old Holm oak in the garden which sheds leaves all year, so I cut the grass a couple (or more) times a week, just to collect the leaves. It came with two batteries and a charger, but I bought a third battery so there's always a spare. I would highly recommend Greenworks, I have a strimmer and leaf blower from the range too, the batteries work with them all.

My mower is cordless. My grass is thick and bumpy. My mower doesn't like it and gives up before I've finished. When I did this year's first cut, I had it on the highest cut, then the next lower then the next. Three times! I had to charge both batteries in between cuts. Although I have two batteries, one got left out all night and got damp. It's even more weak willed than the other one. For difficult grass, I think you need a mower with a bit of heft!

So, my point is beware of rechargeable battery mowers. Mine is by Greenworks. I wouldn't recommend it.

When this thread started, I think we were all waterlogged. But I'm guessing that we've all been out with our mowers this week.
My mower is a corded Flymo (not a hoverer) which has been doing a grand job for many years, about 15 I think. I can lift it easily.

It came with two batteries and a charger.

It's lightweight and very easy to operate.

I’ve just bought one of these today. Hope it does the job. My DH used a petrol mower but I couldn’t even start it up!

I have a lithium battery operated Bosch lawnmower, which I’ve had for about 9 years, and I'd recommend it. I haven’t needed to replace the original battery, and it copes perfectly with my quite large lawns, both back and front, plus the verge.

Most of my neighbours have robotic mowers, they each have a pet name 😂

I do hope someone will invent a small robot type lawnmower soon. You know like the robot vacuum cleaner you can already buy.

They already are WNOT. Flymo make one but there are plenty of other makes too. There’s even one on a large roundabout near us, not sure if the LA provided it as it is in one of the more upmarket areas of the borough, certainly not on the roundabout near me!

I bought a Stihl last year that's light, if your garden is boggy and wet may not be the best time to cut it though.

When looking at mowers you need to take into account the size of the lawn you want to cut. I had to get a mower with a larger cutting edge as a small mower took for ever.

I tested a Bosch at a gardening show to see if it was lightweight enough for me and it was excellent. I didn't purchase as plans changed and I now have a man with a mower!

Mine is a Bosch, they come in various sizes. I find mine easy to use. I found a Flymo quite awkward to manoeuvre.

This is a wizard. It's cordless.
I bought it to take to my garden abroad, but gave it a little outing on a patch of lawn here first. Very easy.

When my grass gets long I use a Flymo. But between times I’ve got a little lightweight lawnmower like this one that I’ve had for years. Wouldn’t be without it. Not sure where I bought it from but this one is similar and is from Argos.

A corded Flymo with grass collector would be very light to use as they float. The closeness of cut can be adjusted to suit.
