We are very lucky here in the south as the lavender likes the soil. We are growing different kinds of lavender, both the traditional type and the French. Quite often our local garden centres sell lavender plants off when the blooms have faded. I just buy them, trim off the dead stalks, pop them in the ground ready for next year. We’ve built up quite a few that way.

I love the smell of lavender and find it very soothing. I buy Yardleys lavender eau de toilette which I find useful in this heat.

How do you stop lavender becoming woody? Do you trim it back?

I've always loved the smell of lavender, since I was a little girl and mum put lavender bags in our knicker drawer, and in with the bedding.

I used to have a beautiful lavandet bush in a pot, but I've nevet been able to grow it since then.

I have a very old-fashioned variety of Lavender in my garden & its massive & covered in scented spires.
A elderly lady had it out in her front garden, with a free to good home label on it & I am the lucky new guardian. The newer varieties of Lavandula are simply not comparable.

I have a large lavender plant on my front rockery and recently gave it a good haircut as the flowers had faded it and the bees had lost interest. I put the cuttings in the green waste bin and even now, after it has been emptied of them, the scent still lingers. The plant that keeps on giving!

I love the smell of it in the garden.

Cheap to buy easy to propagate, long lived, pretty. That before as you said smells lovely

I always thought it was for older people and here I am now, that older person 😂
It reminds me of my mum and her lavender soap.

Lavender suits this hot weather as well. We have lots of lavender in the garden. I dry it and make lavender bags.
