Where shall I prune these sick specimens?

Many of my potted plants on my south facing balcony ‘sort of’ survived this last summer. They were never short of water but even in the shade it was in the 40s. Where shall I prune?

I'm no pruning expert but, before you do anything, Google "How to care for -" and the plant name. Different plants need pruning at different times of year and in different ways (or even not at all!) so a one-size-fits-all answer won't help, sorry.

I think CarrotTop offers good advice. Different plants do have different requirements regarding when and if to prune.
