Genealogy Family tree

earlybabe there is a site where you can download a family tree,it's www.smartdraw.com.That is the one that I used but there are many on the internet for you to choose from.

Many of the pay sites have trees that they will fill in for you as you find out data ...it doesn't happen automatically ...you get a prompt.

However ...be careful what you have entered ...you shouldn't enter information about anyone still alive ...their mother's maiden name will show up ...that could be a security issue.

You can have your 'tree' open for others to see ...this is a way of checking and cross-referencing the accuracy of data with others who are searching a similar line. But you can also have it 'closed' so only you can access it.

I find I can spend hours, following up a line of research ...so definitely a winter night's activity.

I think I will start by missing out my mothers generation there are so many
still about and I dont want to cause them any problems.Mum was a sweet little 18 year old when she was blessed with me

earlybabe you don't have to miss out a generation if you already know the name's,the name's will come into play anyway when you are researching and you recording them will not be of any harm or upset to anyone,but ofcourse you know the best way to do it.Good luck on your search's it's fasinating,I have had some really wealthy relation's but no one has left me a massive inheritance as yet.
