I had a Saturday job when I was at school looking after the children of one of Wilfred's Pickles nieces. The whole family was interesting - a nephew was Judge James Pickles - quite a controversial figure at one time and one of the Judge's children is the actress Carolyn Pickles but the best bit is another niece was Christina Pickles who played Ross and Monica's mum in Friends and when I was 16 she gave me one of her 'old' dresses to go to the school dance and I felt so glamourous! The family felt a but 'iffy' Bout Wilfred's accent - he put it on a bit!!

My first record of Peter And The Wolf was narrated by Wilfred Pickles.

I loved Wilfred Pickles. When I was about 8 I wrote to him and he replied with a most charming letter which I kept for years. I also loved Toytown with Dennis the dachshund and Larry the lamb.
