How long to get an English Death Certificate?

How long should it take? I sent for my uncle's death certificate about two weeks ago, no sign of it yet....is this longer than usual?

It used to take at least 3 weeks, sometimes 6 or 8. If you ordered it online they usually say how long the delay is going to be.

It used to be much quicker when there were fewer folk investigating their past. Family Tree Forum is really good for advice and help on family tree issues and I've used it a lot in the past.

I went online to find an historic one for my fathers foster mother and wondered why it had taken weeks to arrive only to find I had not actually finally "posted it" online. [embarrassed]
