Spotted this in town today. Edward V11 died in 1910 so the post box must have been in use for over 100 years. And vintage stamp machine next to it. Remember those?
Anyone else got old post boxes or pillar boxes in their area?

There are some very ancient-looking ones on posts in a nearby village, I must have a look at them.
However, they are probably not very old, just neglected smile

There is an Edward lll post box at the post office in Bangor, Northern Ireland. It is one of only two in the UK.

Lapwing Do you mean Edward VIII rather that Edward III. grin

I don't think they had post boxes in the 14th century! wink

We have a 1872 box in town, it's green, the original colour of post boxes

Oops, amazing the difference a missing V makes. grin

LOL. Trivial fact : Anthony Trollope invented the pillar box.

We have a Victorian one at the top of our hill. I will 'post' a photo tomorrow.
