I did get Birthday & Christmas presents but not lavish ones. No Birthday Party until my 18th (my 21st was same year as my parents Silver Wedding Anniversary, couldn't afford 2 parties in one year so I chose to celebrate 18th Birthday).
My DD didn't have Birthday Parties either but we celebrated as a family.
My DGS1 is now aged 7 & for the last few years he hasn't had a Party just Cinema with a few friends. DGS2 will have a big 1st Birthday Party next year.
At Christmas I always had a stocking which was opened before Breakfast, then it was Breakfast & get dressed before we opened the rest of the presents. Mine always included books as I've always been an avid reader, other things I remember were a Sindy doll, a watch, a record player with a Beatles single, paint set.
Money was tight but always lots of love
How do you acknowledge Easter.
