Rootsweb mailing lists to close in March

It's the end of an era for those of us who have found, and given freely, so much help and community spirit on the mailing lists over the years.

Ancestry message boards are being offered as an alternative but how that will be anything like as immediate and friendly, I have no idea.

Ancestry are slowly whittling away at the Rootsweb setup sad

I shall miss the mailing lists although the ones I belonged to/adminned have been very quiet over last 3-4 years as similar discussion groups opened on Facebook.

World Connect has been messed up good and proper; the Freepages websites are not long back on line after 18 months offline due to a security issue and no new sites are being registered. [I have a Freepages site, but for how much longer?]
