1921 censuses England on Ancestry

Yes, FMP was the National Archives' digitisation partner and had exclusive rights for three years until now to publish the data. It was first published on 6 January 2022.

The 1921 census is particularly important because the 1931 census records were destroyed in the Blitz and no census was taken in 1941 because of the Second World War (although we do have the 1939 Register). It is the last census release until the release of the 1951 census, which is due in 2052.

Based on something I read a few months ago, that probably means that findmypast is the 'body' (sorry, can't think of the right word there at this moment) that did all the work involved in making the 1921 censuses available online, and as a result was given exclusive use of it for five years.
If I've got that wrong, hopefully someone will give the correct explanation soon.

I have persevered with it on Ancestry this afternoon (had to click many times on some before some would load), and have already found some really useful info via these 1921 censuses.

The message "We're sorry, this page is no longer available" is appearing a lot!
