Can't believe the message I received from a potential relative on Ancestry

only connection I have received was from a cousin of my cousin - so no relative. My grandmother's sister was married to his grandfather's brother. I was able to point him to his cousins and to a great gradfather. But this sounds really weird

Even if she is a relative would you want to get involved with someone trying to make money out of you I would have thought most people would be glad to share such items

There is a tree but it is a poor one, scrappy. The owner (a female) has been on the site for 11 years. I have told her what I think of her offer and blocked her. I really hope she isn't a relative!

Are you sure it’s not a scam? I’d ne checking with Ancestry that the person is genuinely potentially connected to me.

A potential relative (contacted me but no DNA connection given) today offering "antique" family photos for sale, three photos for £85. One of the photos is of a child of the family at the age of three in his coffin. Not only is Ancestry not supposed to be used for making money, but offering a photo of a dead child is sick! I wouldn't accept it if it was given, let alone pay for it. Nor do I wish to even acknowledge the vendor as a blood relative, if that should be the case.

As a matter of principle I freely share information and photos with relatives on the site, both by scanning and private email and using the Gallery feature and they freely share with me. That is what family, even distant family, do - isn't it?
