Hi, I'm a first time, single Grandmother to lovely 14month old twins who are now both toddling.
I look after them twice a week and it is becoming more challenging for me to keep up as they are so active and are starting to be competitive with each other now.
I would love some useful tips from others with twin experience please!

Thanks, peeps - you have all kept me going since the babies arrived very early and scared me to bits - thankfully, they are doing well and look more like bonny babies now. I will put more photos on when I learn how to upload them from elsewhere - not very technically minded, so will have to learn x

Exciting day today - my daughter and I are going to pick up the babies' twin pram and car seats. Polly is now 4 lbs 7 ozs and Alice is 4 lbs 1 oz - she has doubled her birth weight! They are now 6 weeks old and both on 4 hour feeds, so if they demand food before they are due, and manage to take their feeds so they continue to put on weight, they will be discharged. Two weeks before Christmas - no pressure, girlies, but it would be soooo lovely to have them at home with their mum and dad.

Hi carboncareful. The coin should appear in no time - someone just has to sift poo to make sure it's been spotted. One of my children ate multicoloured plasticene when he was three - result - multi-coloured poo! My three year old twin grandsons also refer to themselves as we - not so much the way they identify themselves but more to show they are a force to be reckoned with when they gang up! You are brave to have them on a busy road without being in a pushchair. Mine have backpacks with reins in them that are quite helpful, but they still run rings round me - great fun! x

One of our's swallowed a two pence coin on Friday. Xray says it got straight into stomach - now the wait. But how will it get out without causing pain or injury? Anyone know?

At three they have now, of their own accord, colour coded themselves: one is pink the other is green. So, if one is wearing red he is the pink twin. If one is wearing blue he is the green twin. Get it? She buys the same clothes but different colour.
Also, when buying for the older boy she buys two instead of one item so that they can pass down as double, of equal wear, if you see what I mean.

At three and a half and identical they still refer to themselves as we: as in we want to go to the park, we want chocolate etc.
Got rid of the cots a while back - now wondering for how long two can sleep top to tail in the bottom bunk (older brother on top)?

Have any of you discovered yet that you can't be in charge of twins on a busy road and be able to sneeze or hold a handbag!!!!?

Such fabulous news today. The babies have been weighed and Polly has reached 4 lbs 2 ozs - she has celebrated with her first bath. Alice is now 3 lbs 8 ozs - she's on her way to doubling her sugar bag birthweight of 2 lbs. Both babies will be put on a demand feeding regime in the next few days and when they've cracked it, they can come HOME!!! I really must try to contain myself - they'll dread me coming through the door in floods of tears (of joy, of course). x
