School holidays

What a lovely day with your family, its been much too cold for a day out here, but we had a Wii bowling evening last night, the grandkids against the oldies , we had popcorn and nibbles we pushed the sofa back and had a great time . Such fun, and the 8yr old beat us all.. she loves to win.

I think you are right Frank when a child is abducted or attacked these days it is much more widely reported than it would have been when I was a child.

When I lived in Spain a neighbour, a single man, was always wary when neighbours children would call on him, he never invited them into the house and only spoke to them sitting on his verandah

Statistically according to a police officer I know there is no higher risk of children being attacked than there was 50 years ago.
He thinks it appears worse as it is reported over the media more.
I think people have unfounded suspicions more now.
I can remember being suspicious of a single man in London because he went in to a lot of school fates etc.
I could not see what harm he was doing because he mainly headed to the home cooking table and purchased a few cakes, then he purchased a few raffle tickets and possibly a couple of other bits and then left.
When we had a chat it turned out he was a police officer ( not the one who told me about the statistics of children being attacked).

I can remember as a child leaving the house in the morning, heading off for a long walk into the nearby countryside with my friends and not returning home until we got hungry! I don't know whether it was safer for children then but we didn't seem to hear so much of children being attacked. Having said that my parents drummed into me not to speak to strangers and I once refused a lift in a car belonging to a friend of my father. When my parents heard about it they praised me for obeying their instructions.

It must be very worrying for parents these days to let their children out of their sight.

I look after my granddaughters but a little while ago it was proposed I looked after a boy who was not a relative for a few hours.
He did not want that as I have only looked after girls so far.
To avoid upsetting him somebody else was found.

I think my grandsons have been little boys if you know my meaning. Loud fighting telling stories doors banging heavy sign it's not fair. I can't remember any fights screeching matches be cause we were kicked out from under mums feet and told not to come back till lunch. We never got a choice just given with no fuss then we would off till tea time .I remember being exhausted by eight o'clock no television or DVDs or computers . just zzzz till next day. So would I rather be my grandsons or me. Me of course we didn't have much we survived . Unless I was me for I try to compromise cool the fights try make it easier for dd but bless my little darlings I wouldn't change a thing. They no when to be behaved if we are out for meals etc so they are just little boys having to fight to be heard. Love you all boys anne09

So nice to read about your day Anne the simple time's with our family are always the best aren't they ? to-day youngest DGS has been helping me weed the plantpots in the front garden area and we also treated ourselve's to ice lollies after all our hard work.Feet up time now for nanna I think.
