I'm at the school gates once a week. Some mothers are constantly on mobiles, but only a few.But most are busy,no time to stand around that's for sure.
But sadly,I've seen little ones in prams playing computer games, even walking around Saltrum. Now that's sad.

I do see lots of parents on their phones rather than responding to their children. I get very saddened by it. Hadn't thought about the positioning of a push chair, did stop me chattering away. I swear my eldest born talking.

Perhaps we need adds on tablets, phones, tv's reminding parents to talk to their little ones.

I recently sat through an INSET session where the speaker talked about the increasing number of children who come to nursery and to school with poor vocabulary and speaking skills. She said that one of the reasons for this, is the fact that most prams have children facing forwards so that not only do they have less conversation with the adult pushing the pram, but also less opportunity to see adults engaging in conversation with each other. She went on to say that children coming out of school bursting with news are often greeted by parents too busy texting to listen and respond.
She's definitely right about the increasing number of poor speakers but what do you think about the prams and phones.
