My two grandchildren were taken into foster care. Their father had sold custody but is hooked on meth. Cps got involved when he was arrested for possession of meth 4 gs. June 3 my grandchildren began living with me, he was arrested July 2. Released July 13. Cps came up with a family plan where they would stay with me and he was to have no unsupervised direct contact. He continued using and began making threats, cps put the kids on foster care to protect him a couple days ago. The foster mom said I am Rhett only one they can talk to and is allowed to call me and voice versa. My grandkids and I are very close. Don't I get some kind of visitation rights? I am in texas, they placed the children 2 1/2 hours away. I filed s poison for custody the day after they were removed. Son still has pending possession charges sms keeps texting positive for meth. Long term abuse r

This is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry for you and your grandchildren. I can't offer any advice but I'm sure there must be somebody on gransnet with suitable experience who might be able to help you. ?

Holdenz sounds like a serious and heartbreaking situation, you might get more helpful information from other Americans as most people on this site would know about British laws and Social Services. I hope you get some help soon.

I'm so sorry it's a nightmare come true. I hope you manage to get things sorted so you can see them regularly. Other than that I can't offer any advice I'm not sure of your legal rights in the USA.

Holdenz, Try this website. You may be able to find some help to get visitation rights or custody of your grandchildren.
I know this is very upsetting for you and the children. You are in my thoughts.
You will have to highlight and copy this link as I can't figure out why it isn't underlined.

flowers so sorry this has happened to you and GCs. USA fostering procedures are obviously different from GB. Hope you get fostering rights and they can be with you.

So sorry about your problems Holdenz, I don't know what the legal issues are in USA but I had a friend with exactly the same problems here in UK. He eventually got custody of the children and is bringing them up very successfully after a difficult start so don't lose hope.
Be strong.

not sure how it works over there but in UK in this situation the grandparents can apply to the courts for what is known as an SGO special guardianship order. You are checked out pretty throughly by social services and then go to court for judge to make it legal you then have parental responsibility until children are 18 . I have one for my granddaughter here hoping that there is something similar over there

Holdenz what a horrible situation for you but this is a UK forum and tour legal system is likely to be totally different to the USA one. I do hope this works out well
