Double buggy

Rinouchka gives good advice about making sure the wheels work well. I bought a decent mommas and poppas single buggy for £25 only to find one of the wheels was wobbly. Thankfully, a family member bought two replacements on eBay and fixed it for £13 so still a bargain really, it wouldn't have been without an expert on hand though.

I bought a MacLaren double buggy with raincover for £25 from a charity shop and it has been used whenever the two youngest GC visit from the USA. It has even accompanied us on Eurostar, did all of Paris on foot, and been on and off buses, underground, metro, etc.

Now it is ready for next lot of toddlers.

Enquire at charity shops and, if you find one, check that the wheels work well. Ebay is a good bet but you would have to find a seller near you as pick up might prove problematic.

I have seen ride on extensions that fit behind the single buggy, so the older child stand between the handles. I don't know anything about them, but someone might.

We had a quite small McLaren one and even though it fitted into the boot of a Fiesta ,it was still rather heavy for me.

sarn26 is it really worth the outlay? in a very short few months your 2 year old wont need a buggy

sarn26 - I saw a good double buggy, smallish by mommas and poppas when i was at the garden centre today.
My grandchildren are 20 and 12 months, we do a day a week care for them. I looked at double buggies and decided against it. We already have one buggy and I picked up another, second hand that was for sale on our local Facebook page. I'm lucky in that my husband is here when we have both babies, so we push one buggy each. If that isn't an option and you decide to go for a double buggy, it might be worth looking at reviews and the discussions on mumsnet, they seem to be a well informed lot.
