AIBU to ban my 2yr old grandson?

He comes to my house and immediately points out any bit of crumb or fluff on my floor, to make me feel like an inadequate housekeeper. He fetches the dustpan and brush to clean them, which I should feel thankful for, except to add injury to insult he make more mess and mayhem trying to clean than there was already. Would it be unreasonable to stop him visiting until he can accept my home as it is? He turned two last month and has been doing this since he was about 20 months old.

Did you jalima1108?... ? in my defence I had already read the first few posts and they didn't really give me an inkling it was a joke... I'll know better next time.. (but then I'll probably go the other way and offend someone!). ??

ReadyMeals Thu 14-Feb-19 19:24:28

Oddly enough, Jalima, he IS a capricorn grin

sometimes a thread becomes tltr

I do skim read and get the gist but could miss something vitally important

Blencathra Thu 14-Feb-19 19:09:23

A very funny thread. So many people don’t bother to read the whole thing before they post!

Jalima1108 Thu 14-Feb-19 19:05:47

I thought your post was tongue-in-cheek too Toots

Jalima1108 Thu 14-Feb-19 19:02:30

poor little soul It gets worse

~ReadyMeals he's not a Capricorn by any chance, is he?
Their nit-picking habits can infuriate others and some have a tendency to ‘know best’ and not to listen

Or Aquarius?
Being dutiful, they would never let a member of their family go without their basic requirements, but they can be strangely, even deliberately, blind to their underlying needs and real feelings.

Are you being serious!?

Lilylilo Thu 14-Feb-19 18:57:51

I put my grandchildren on Cobweb Patrol with extra long father dusters, we have very high ceilings, and off they go all 5 of them aged between 9 and 3! Totally adorable.

icanhandthemback Thu 14-Feb-19 18:46:01

What I find really interesting is that many of the posters who are in high dudgeon don't even read the post above theirs which points out it is a joke. confused

Cherrytree59 Thu 14-Feb-19 18:27:12

grin
Readymeals shame on you, bet you fed yours kids on nothing but readymeals.shock

"He comes to my house and immediately points out any bit of crumb or fluff on my floor, to make me feel like an inadequate housekeeper."

Oh ReadyMeals did you actually read your own post?... do you honestly think that a little 2 yr old..basically still a baby...would have the thought capacity to do that? Children LOVE to copy adults..give them a duster, some boxes to sort, or some water to pretend to wash up their little pots, and they'll be amused for hours...
Please don't ban your little grandson..poor little soul..and you don't know what a loss that would be to yourself too...and all totally unnecessary. ?

Gonegirl Thu 14-Feb-19 17:50:26

joke joke joke joke joke joke

(The original poster is truly sorry) (I would be! grin )

GrammaH Thu 14-Feb-19 17:29:44

Oh come on, let the little fellow enjoy his sweeping & dusting! I'm sure it'll soon wear off as he gets older! Banning him is a bit harsh don't you think??

Cherrytree59 Thu 14-Feb-19 17:20:51

Tallking of fluff (or 'oose' as it was called in our hoosesmile) now that our feathered friends have nesting on their minds, we occasionally put a little tumble dryer fluff out between the slats on a patio chair.

Apologies OP, as you were everybodysmile

MaudLillian Thu 14-Feb-19 17:18:58

I would really not mind what my little granddaughter chose to do when she visits our home. I love every moment that I spend with her. She isn't yet 2 and I just love watching her, hearing her chatter and playing whatever game she wants, even if it is just tipping out the contents of boxes and saying ' uh oh' and laughing! I see her about once every 10 days on average for a couple of hours at a time. Occasionally for longer if my DiL needs me to mind her for a bit - and that's mostly in her own home. I am just enjoying her in a way I felt unable to do so much with my 3 boys as they grew up.

Aepgirl Thu 14-Feb-19 16:54:02

Buy him his own dustpan and brush, and maybe a duster, some rubber gloves, a lawnmower, etc. By the time he is 3 you could put your feet up!

Jalima1108 Thu 14-Feb-19 16:47:11

I think the DGS should be put on the naughty step for upsetting granny.
Along with his dustpan and brush.

Gonegirl Thu 14-Feb-19 16:45:33

grin Have they been consigned to history already?! I can't keep up.

HildaW Thu 14-Feb-19 16:43:47

ooooh Naughty steps!....now are they allowed nowadays?

Gonegirl Thu 14-Feb-19 16:39:47

Readymeals - naughty step NOW! grin

Maggiemaybe Thu 14-Feb-19 16:39:06

Ah, so do the FB posts appear on here too?

I’ve just checked, Jalima, and no they don’t. There aren’t many, but they’re split between the “please tell me you’re joking” and the “yes of course she is” camps too. You’ve certainly got people guessing, Readymeals!

Gonegirl Thu 14-Feb-19 16:38:22

jalima ignore what I said about Facebook. Red herring. (totally confused )
