Please, please, please pray for my precious 4 year old grandson, who has a lump on his neck and will soon be going for an operation/ biopsy on the lump. Whichever God you pray to, please remember to mention my little boy. I am in total anguish, not just for my grandson but for his parents, my son and daughterinlaw. It must be so hard for them. He is an active little boy and we are hoping there's nothing nasty going on. But even the thought of him having an operation scares me. When he went to see the Consultant, he was so scared, crying and didn't want to go. I know he is in good hands, and the Nurses will be specially trained to deal with their little patients. But I can't get him out of my head ...I am beside myself with worry. Thanks for listening xx

Still waiting and fervently hoping that all will be well. ?

Sounds as if they're keeping an eye on his white blood cell count as it increases when fighting an infection. These are the " fighting " cells that fight bacteria and virus infections.
They have to keep checking the blood regularly to give them an idea what might be causing the infection and also to see if the white cells have decreased.

Hope they can track down whatever it is x

Still in my prayers crazyH.

Sounds like all these tests are a long drawn out process of elimination, Crazy H.

I hope that they soon identify the problem so that they can treat it promptly.

I walked up to church today, included your precious boy and all who love him in my prayers.

Take care, hoping and praying for a positive outcome very soon.?

I can remember being told of a friend of a friend who had had blood tests done: I think he was training to be a doctor so knew that he could be suffering from something very serious. It turned out that he had glandular fever. Very debilitating of course, but a much better outcome than what he was expecting. Sounds very hopeful. I, too, shall keep my fingers crossed.

All mine had it after the oldest one had it when she was in the 6th form, the youngest only about 8. All were unwell, pale and lethargic and the patient does need lots of rest, fluids and tlc.

Still thinking of you flowers

My daughter had it during her A levels at 18. (she is 49) She was quite poorly for what seemed months.

BlueBelle Wed 24-Jun-20 15:10:44

Oh now you ve said that crazyh my son had glandular
fever when he was 6 which the doctor at the time 46 years ago said was a very unusual age to have GF but his lymph nodes in his neck were up and I remember being scared stiff of the word lump it never registered till you just now said that
Keep your hopes up
My two teenage grandkids had it last year and were sooooo poorly with it

SueDonim Wed 24-Jun-20 15:04:07

Maybe it’s a belt & braces approach, CrazyH? They want to double check? Glandular fever can certainly make you quite unwell.

I do hope they get back to you soon. Can your son & dil call the clinic and ask what the tests are for? flowers

timetogo2016 Wed 24-Jun-20 15:03:55

Will do crazyH.
I pray for you all and send loves and hugs to your Grandson.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 24-Jun-20 15:02:07

Oh glandular fever. That would be a good outcome, giving the possible alternatives

crazyH Wed 24-Jun-20 15:00:56

Hospital rang today and asked to take him in for further blood tests. At this rate, the poor mite won't have any blood left?. I asked d.i.l what the test was for and she didn't know ?
At one point, she told me one of his tests came back positive for glandular fever. So why more tests?
What SueD said earlier, keeps me feeling positive, although it would be nice to know what's going on. Thanks all xx

Whitewavemark2 Mon 22-Jun-20 14:59:50

crazy what sued said.

It makes sense doesn’t it?

crazyH Mon 22-Jun-20 14:58:32

SueD ...that certainly makes me feel better - Thankyou xx

SueDonim Mon 22-Jun-20 13:48:18

Waiting is horrible and doubly so for a child. flowers

I sincerely hope, though, that if they had any inkling it was a life-threatening condition that they would have him in hospital immediately and not allow it to drift. Certainly, of the (thankfully little) experience I know other people have had, the doctors have moved at lightening speed, to diagnose and start treatment, literally within hours of seeing the GP.

Bless this little fellow.
