As they got older my children got a limited choice in what they wore. And I let them choose their clothes. My daughter has told me she didn't like the dresses I chose sometimes when she was young. So I wish I had let her choose more.
Concerning food I wouldn't feed them anything they didn't like, of course. But what on earth is wrong with havjng a weekly menu. I used to ask mum What's for dinner tonight. My children asked me the same question. Sometimes I wasn't overjoyed with the answer and I'm sure my children weren't either but I certainly wasn't traumatised by not being given a choice..
My daughter asks her children. It takes such a long time to suit everyone - she's vegetarian one son's vegan and the other changes his mind about what is acceptable from day to day. A lot of food is wasted.
