Stop Childcare Ratios Increasing!

I wonder if maybe people wouldn't mind sharing and signing this petition at all?

We lost our little man, Oliver Steeper, at 9 months old after a choking incident at his nursery.

A few days ago Boris Johnson proposed that a way to cut the cost of living would be to increase the number of children an adult is responsible for in early years settings. This cannot happen...there's other ways to decrease the cost of childcare, and to lump our childrens' safety in with a proposal to reduce MOT requirements is utterly shocking.

We need it to get to 100k signatures for the Government to consider it for debate. Please, if you feel able, sign and share.

Thank you so much everyone xxx

Signed and so sorry for your loss. DGS2 was at childminder who seemed very good on safety. Stopped over Covid and when restarted he was older and could tell DD2 what was happening. She queried and upshot was council investigated and he started at nursery and much happier. Starts pre school year after summer. There was a tragic case of choking in a nursery near us when a baby died recently. So sad.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I work in a childcare setting and have done for twenty years three years off retiring. I totally agree with you this is definitely not the way.

I have signed too. Your DGC was a beautiful child. I had a grandaughter who died when 15 months old and so can understand some of your grief. MyDD and her partner were not listened to by doctors which resulted in a cruel and unnecessary death.

I have signed and also written to my MP. Such a terrible tragedy for you all - let us do all we can to prevent a recurrence of this.

The proposal beggars belief. As a governor at a school that also has a pre-school, I am well aware of the costs of meeting the current rules - but we all regard this as money well spent to keep our children safe. I am finding it very hard to credit that Johnson can be so crass as to make this ridiculous proposal.

So sorry to hear your news.
Have signed petition and contacted MP.
