When did you first join the best club in the world?
12 years ago a VILP (very important little person) came into our lives and Paw and I found ourselves promoted to being Grandparents!
As soon as I came out of school, we headed to Birmingham and I shall always treasure this pic of Paw with his first grandchild.
Now that VILP is taller than Granny (not hard it’s true) and I could not be more proud of the delightful young man he has become.
Happy 12th Birthday ? ?? ? ? ??

18 years and then suddenly 6 years ago! Until then I thought it would be just one! Since then four have followed the youngest is just 3 months! Happy days - but hard work. If truth be told I am probably too old!.

I became a nana October 2013, I so lovely little DGS. He has Down syndrome and is quite a character, very small for his age, but quite intelligent. he was joined in 2016 by his cousin who is a lovely little girl. My DDs were both later in life to have their children and both children get on well together. I feel so lucky to have them, my only regret is they didn't come 10 years earlier then I could have been more help!!

5 years ago and DGS is the light of our lives. Every day we spend with him is so precious

My first DGD will be 18 in December, she’s my youngest DS child. We were told when my DD was very ill when she was 19 that she wouldn’t be able to have children . Happily she gave birth to our 2nd DGD when she was 32. That baby will be 17 on my birthday next week . I also I have 2 DGS aged 15 and a half , and lastly ‘the baby’ DGD who is 10 .

Youngest grandson of the four is 28 in three weeks time. We are going to watch him in his first gig as lead guitarist in 2 weeks time can't wait.

To have a great grandaughter of 23 is amazing. Congratulations Bijou you could end up as gt gt grandma. That won’t happen in my case I was too old when my gd was born. Envy you a bit. hope you are well, flowers

Elder DGD will be 15 this year, her sister will be 12. They are lovely girls, and I am very proud of them.

14/09/2011. Our granddaughter, Ruby - 9lbs 10 oz! DD Took this rather flattering photo of me aged 62, only a couple of days after a difficult birth and emergency caesarian. We have 6 year old Willem and 17 year old Jack as well. Ruby was due on our Ruby wedding anniversary - 14th August and her paternal great grandma was also called Ruby.

Nearly 8 years for me and I now have four.
What a lovely picture Maw.

What an absolutely lovely photograph MawtheMerrier and what a nice thread you started.

All 3 of my children have children. DD1 has a 16 year old daughter. Decided on just the one. A fairly awful toddler who used to bite everyone, particularly DD2, but who has turned into a delightful teenager. My son has a boy aged 10 and a girl aged 8. Last year they returned from living in Hong Kong and the Netherlands over 6 years. The move back to the U.K. was prompted by NatWest saying his U.K. bank account would be closed (Brexit requirement). DD2 has a daughter aged 3 and a son just turned 1. These last 2 we see a great deal of as they live on the other side of our town.

25 years ago, such a long time, 2 GS's working, 2 at Uni, 2 GD's getting ready for GCSE and 1 off to big school soon. The years fly by. We are very proud of them all.

My grandson was due on my 55th birthday 12 years ago. He arrived a day late. He is perfect as is his sister who arrived 2 years later.
We thought that was it as DD2 never wanted children but last year she presented us with an unexpected but delightful grandson
They are all amazing we love them so much

It will be fourteen years in July since our first granddaughter was born. We now have 8 - 4 of each and I think I am so lucky this has happened to me.

17 years ago our first DGC was born. Being a Granny is the best thing ever!

Lovely to see a picture of Paw, Maw. He looks so proud.

November 19, 3 days after my Mum died...lovely little chap, though at present non verbal. Saw him born, and loved him every second since - maybe too much xx

Legs55 Sun 15-May-22 13:53:24

My step-grandson is 27 & step-grandaughter is 24. I will be 67 in 2 months time.

My DD was blessed with my eldest DGS 12 years ago & his little brother was born 5 years ago (Birthday is on Tuesday). For a while we thought DD wasn't going to have children. DH was with us for DGS1's first 3 years, sadly he didn't live to see DGS2. Love them both, eldest is as tall as me & younger one is a joy as I had moved to be closer to DD so I have been part of his life from day one smile

Both of my DGSs are special to me, lots of hugs & kisses smile

Happysexagenarian Sun 15-May-22 13:49:47

15 years ago. Our first GC has been followed by 9 more - 2 siblings and 7 cousins.

pamdixon Sun 15-May-22 13:31:30

Best thing in the world being a grandmother isn't it! My oldest gc (I have six) is nearly 16 and is already 6ft 3 He pats me on the head, and tells me I am very little, then gives me a big hug!
I also have 2 grand-dogs, who I love to bits as well!!
