Impetigo is a skin infection treated by antibiotics and an antibiotic cream. Children catch it from each other easily as they touch their faces, itch, pick and don't wash hands after. As an adult it would be unusual to catch it from a child if you are careful about hand washing.

I'd refuse to look after him. The parents really shouldn't expect you to risk catching it.

Child must have a diagnosis before making the decision of any more babysitting.

definitely do not have contact with him if he has impetigo.
as he already lives with his parents, contact should be limited to them.
follow the medical advice for isolation.

My DGC currently have chicken pox which seems rife. Could it be this?

Hi I usually look after my grandchild 4/5 days a week
He has come out with a rash on his face which looks very much of impetigo!!! I know this is highly infectious Should I say no in looking after him?
