I’ve done it all ….full time care of youngest while eldest at nursery …picking up at nursery …taking home …feeding …playing… then taking and fetching from school ….listening to the reading ….getting the tea for them till mum or dad got home . Then two buses home for me to an invalid hubby and not even a potato peeled …falling into bed at 9 to do it all over again the next day ….they live three miles away and I dont drive and no early buses so I walked . While doing this I was between 60 to 70 …. the work was tiring, but the relationship I built up with my grandson and then granddaughter has been wonderful! The youngest is ten and occasionally I’m called upon to take her to MMA or football practice if dads gonna be late home or has an after school meeting ( teacher) …their mum has made different arrangements ( separated) ….it all drifted slowly to it’s inevitable end with Covid …but I’m still ‘needed’ for child minding occasionally if eldest (15) is off doing his own thing!! It’s enough now …although with hubby in full time care….I would welcome the activity again. Strangely , at a time when my life has come back to me and I have the time ….the kids are getting too big for nanny’s help! 🤷🏻♀️
Is it rude to not finish a book club choice that was selected by someone else?
