Saundersfoot, Tenby or Gower are lovely for a short break with a variety of accommodation from b&b, caravans, cottages or good hotels with last-minute deals.

If you are a member of the National Trust, Somerset has some lovely places to visit; we stayed centrally not far from Montacute and there are several others properties in the area.

Popular places are still heavily booked at this time of year. Airbnb vary so much but worth a try.

Research by 'Which' found that Airbnb works out more expensive than hotels. Depending on the area there can be a huge difference.

We have stayed in Big Red (it’s an old American school bus) near Usk.

A coach holiday to Pembrokeshire - love that part of the world. Or, drive yourselves there and book into a bed and breakfast place. Good luck !

Haven sites .....offer mon to fri .....or fri to Monday short breaks.....probs get a caravan quite cheaply....or check out airbnb

Some coach tour operators seem to offer incredibly inexpensive tours. Might one of them be worth looking at?
