The important thing is not how you feel about this, but how your grandchild did. Country children are presumably still brought up to realise that some animals are killed for food, others are culled when there are too many of them. It is kinder than letting them starve to death!

Toy rabbits and real ones are two different things, as are pet rabbits and wild ones. I had teddies as a child (still have them, actually) but that doesn't mean I would go anywhere near a real, live bear.

It is not something I could watch,however I would feel it is none of my business what a parent does with their child and ferreting is an environmentally friendly pest control and it is good to see children taking an interest in the countryside.

My friends grandchildren are growing up with animals they pet and love but know they will be ate by them at sometime soon they are 10 and 5 They are not actually farm children but moved to the countryside a couple of years ago
I can’t bear to think about it and think it s not right at all and my friend isn’t at all comfortable with it but that’s their way nothing to do 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't like killing but your son is doing a countryside activity with his daughterand not sitting in front of a screen with her. I would encourage physical activities and not fall out with him..

Humans, pets and farm animals aside, I'm trying to think of an animal that doesn't hunt for food. Some hunt for plants or fungi; some for other animals; some, like humans before we farmed, for anything edible at all.

The sort of hunting people disapprove of is a very tiny proportion of the whole. At least, that's how I see it.

i regularly hunt for food, mostly trying to lasso some special offers in lidl, but i avoid mammals and birds, and i've never gone in for reptiles, not that i think they do a roaring trade in reptiles . . .

I would imagine what you do is nothing. It’s not for myself either, but it’s his child and he’s doing something with her that’s legal and normal to many people. Whatever do you imagine you could or should do?

What do you do when 9 yr grandchild has had a persistent cough especially when outdoors and my daughter doesn’t take her to doctor?

Why do our kids not think if can offer any insight to situations? Feeling unappreciated for the care of watching my granddaughter for 8 yrs 3 days a week.

Honestly I suspect you need to take a step back. You seem to have misunderstood your role - given that you watch the child three times a week. But that makes you a child care provider , a grandparent who helps provide care - not a parent. Children go ferriting with their fathers, coughs can linger etc. it’s not really anything for you to do. I assume you’ve mentioned the cough. If you’re feeling under appreciated for helping where you do you can say you won’t be able to do it anymore , but Doing the helping doesn’t grant you a say in parental decisions.

Regardless of the fact that animals and people have hunted forever and a day, it would upset me.
