If you eat proper food with a balance of protein and fats etc and nothing highly processed there will be no need for snacking as you will not feel hungry. Snacking increases the blood sugars and it is no good for you, storing up a host of health issues in the future.
Snacking has often nothing to do with being hungry; take it from one who knows! 
I never allowed snacking between meals for my daughter when she was small, though, because it stands to reason that dinner is less appealing when you're already full.
