Gawd! My mum used to sing something that went "Bye baby bunting, daddy's gone a-hunting.........." and was, basically, a promotion of bloodsports because the rabbit got caught and skinned to provide a coat for Baby Bunting.

Pretty revolting.

Oh yes I remember that one!

“Gone to fetch a rabbit skin to wrap my baby bunting in”!

For some reason DD had to have "Dark brown is the river, golden is the sand."
But I can't find it sung with "our" tune on YouTube.

Just listening to Rob Bryden telling that his mother’s lullaby song was ‘ Once upon a time there were three Jews’!
I remember the Bodach singing the Boys’ Brigade hymn to ours, and my personal favourite was Panis Angelicus!
These were the ‘go to sleep’ choices, not the everyday singalongs.

“ the Boys’ Brigade hymn” . Do you mean “We have an anchor.”That’s quite rousing for bedtime.

Lula lula bye bye. No idea if that’s how to spell it!

My Mum sang it to me, I sang it to my boys and then to my Granddaughter

My mother would sing Brahms Lullaby to us, and I sang it to my children. Whenever I hear it, it finishes me!

It was also my MIL's song for her children, and it was played and sung at her funeral.
