Just listening to Rob Bryden telling that his mother’s lullaby song was ‘ Once upon a time there were three Jews’!
I remember the Bodach singing the Boys’ Brigade hymn to ours, and my personal favourite was Panis Angelicus!
These were the ‘go to sleep’ choices, not the everyday singalongs.

My Dad used to sing Secret Love to me...from Calamity Jane. I only have to hear it now to get very emotional.

I sang ‘Nana’ by Manuel de Falla to mine as I sang it at concerts, it’s just beautiful.
My mother sang Now the day is over.

I used to make up my own words to "Brahms Lullaby"
It usually went something like:-

Lullaby and goodnight to my very own baby
Lullaby and goodnight to my very own baybee

And so on for what seemed like an eternity until the little sausage went to sleep. Happy days.

I sometimes used to go to sleep sat in a chair by their cot before they did.

Oh my goodness, such lovely (tear jerking!) memories. I think I have sung all of them at one time or another. My mother sang Scarlet Ribbons 🥲.

Parent never sang to me but they did play jazz and blues music a lot. I certainly never sang to mine. They would have had nightmares!

I don’t remember my mother singing to me at all….or ever singing for that matter.
I sang to my children. My DD particularly remembers the Everly Brothers ‘ Dream, dream, dream ‘.

"Go to sleep my baby" was what my mim sang to me & also 'Theres a tiny house By a tiny stream Where a lovely lass Used to sit and dream.'
My much-loved Dad would sing me Eidelweiss from Sound of Music if Mum was cross & sent me to bed without a cuddle / story/ song.
I sang Brahms lullaby to mine, also to the dogs when they were puppies, but I've never known the words, just make them up.

I’ve just remembered, I used to sing Morningtown Ride to my children too.

Train whistle blowing, makes a sleepy noise,
Underneath the blankets, go all the girls and boys… 🎶🎹

Indeed, windmill and Grannybags, we skirt over that hunting rhyme when we visit the wonderful children's book Each Peach Pear Plum.
My slumber song is " Dream a little dream of me".
My eldest GC was astonished to hear someone else singing it on the radio.
