Welcome cathymum flowers. I am pleased that you are enjoying the site. I look forward to reading your future contributions.

Hello I joined about a week ago and am enjoying exploring the site. I wanted to be grandma but my GS calls me Margar and GD calls me Gaga _ she is probably being very perceptive! DH is Pops.

A belated welcome hulahoop, I think I recognize your name from the forums. I have to agree that there are some very thoughtful members on here.

Thanks annsixty. I watch the thread because I should hate anyone to introduce themselves and not be acknowledged, which I am sure can sometimes happen on other threads, but I do my best! smile
When I worked I was the one who bought and circulated birthday cards to be signed for staff members. Sadly nobody ever remembered mine. sad

A huge vote of thanks to shysal who very kindly keeps her eyes ready for new GNers and welcomes them so warmly to the forum.

Welcome Sparklyflowers. With all the different titles of grandparents it gets a bit complicated doesn't it? I chose to be a Nanny as Grandma sounds a bit too grown up for me!smileI hope you enjoy Gransnet.

Thanks for the welcome !

I am Grandma and my first name. Happy to be Grandma though my mother and sister have added fruit to their 'Nana'.....when I was a child I had 3 great grandparents, 4 grandparents. Surnames were used for grandparents and one great, one set of greats were called 'Mam' and 'Dad' by everyone, grandparents down.

I am going to have a look at other conversations and I'll see if I have any input to add. Many thanks for the welcome smile

Don't be apprehensive about being new, NannaJay. If you are like I was you will make a few errors like contributing to a thread from years ago! I now keep an eye on the dates of posts. You may also think that you have killed a thread stone dead by adding a comment. It happens to us all from time to time. Jump in and enjoy! smile

Welcome to all new members. There are far more political threads than is usual at the moment. For obvious reasons! I shall be glad when the balance is restored.

NannaJay Wed 29-Jun-16 21:36:49

Thank you for welcoming me Shysal, I'm a bit apprehensive being so new to the site.

Welcome NannaJay flowers. My daughters called their grandmothers Nanny Cat and Nanny Pig, as they had those animals. I was pleased to be called Nanny Sally, but now they are older it tends to be Nan. I hope you enjoy Gransnet, be prepared to become addicted!

NannaJay Wed 29-Jun-16 10:27:10

Hello everyone, I really wanted to be Nanna. My daughter asked me which I preferred when she was expecting. It hasn't worked out though and my gd is now 5. I also have another gf now, aged 1 and a step gd age 8, but she uses my first name.

Hello Anneishere, welcome to Gransnet flowers. I don't envy you working full time. The best thing I have done for years is to retire. I thought I might get bored, living alone, but I easily fill my days with all I want to do. I hope you have time to enjoy your grandsons, and the granddaughter when she arrives.

Anneishere Sun 26-Jun-16 16:09:16

Hello all - Anne here? I live in London. I am 62 and have 2 grandsons and one granddaughter due in September ? I still work full time and probably will do so for as long as I can. I eat too much and - yes - I am forever promising myself I will exercise more tomorrow lol But seriously I really should take more care of myself. I lost my husband in 2008 after 35 years of marriage. Hoping you all are having a good day ? Anne

Ducks1 Sat 18-Jun-16 09:09:09

Hello everyone. I posted one comment before I introduced myself on here. I've been a member for a few weeks and got too excited. I'm a fairly new nan and loving it smile

Singlegrannie Fri 17-Jun-16 20:16:13

Thank you shysal, I hadn't noticed !

shysal Fri 17-Jun-16 08:45:56

Welcome Singlegrannie, you will soon get the hang of it! If I can manage it anybody can! Enjoy! Gransnet is the only forum I belong to as well. Most of the abbreviations are given under the 'acronyms' heading above each thread.
