I have been on Gransnet for about 2 weeks and am just coming to terms with the different personalities. The educated, the gentle, the forthright to name just three. Very interesting so far.

Hi aura1, welcome flowers. The ages of your grandchildren are similar to mine, except that I have 2 families of 3. There was talk recently about setting up a map with members' locations, but I am afraid I don't know how to access it. I hope you enjoy the site, look out for local meet-ups under that heading in 'Forums'.

Hi, aura1 and welcome to Gransnet! You can view member's profiles by clicking on their usernames, but only if the name is in blue font. Black font means that the member has chosen not to have a public profile.

Your second question is interesting - I've been on GN for 3 years and I'd like to have that facility too! You could try the Local link at the top of the page and check out the GN site for your area to see if other members have posted there. No one but the Local Editor has posted on mine though.

Hello, I'm new to Gransnet so this is my first post. I've got three grandchildren aged 17, 15 and 10.
I would like to ask one question please and that is if you can fill in a public profile page how do you view other peoples profile pages? I'm a member of a couple of other forums and you can click on the persons username there but you can't on this forum. Also is there a list of members on the site for finding people who leave local to you?

Welcome to the latest newcomers. flowers Crafter, assuming you live up to your name, you will find some talented members on here. Unfortunately my skills are very limited. I made a Tin Man costume today for GS6 to wear on World Book Day. Luckily he is delighted with it.

Hi all! I discovered Gransnet on Twitter & found one or two of the subjects under discussion right up my street. I've two grandchildren, a boy of 16 and a girl of 9, whom I don't see often enough. They call me Nan or Nanny and I don't mind either name, I just love hearing them say it. wink

BBbevan Fri 26-Feb-16 10:30:31

We are Grandma and Grampa. My DiL asked us what we would prefer. Our opposite numbers are Nanu and Nana, as they come from Bangladesh.
I dislike Nanny as it has echoes of paid help

Nelliemoser Thu 25-Feb-16 09:05:58

Welcome all. As for which set of grandparents choose which name. My children had Nanny I and Nanny E*. (My mum flatly refused to be called Grandma or Granny) then it was Grandad T an Grandpa M.

My co Granny was already a Grandma so she got that name and I got Nanan. There is only one Grandad.

Welcome Darren.

PS - it might be a good idea to chop off part of your name - it could be thought that you planned to promote your business interests, and that is not permitted on here. We are always grateful for a bit of impartial advice, though.

Darrenthesolicitor Mon 22-Feb-16 11:24:07

Hello everyone I'm Darren

Its lovely to see the level of support and discussion that is going on here.

Thanks

Welcome Lizzyann. Was there something special about October in your younger days ??? How lovely to have five little granddaughters. Let's hope the (July again !) new grandchild is a boy. But if not she will be much loved anyway. Nice for your DH though to have a bit of male support in the grandchild area. Do let us know.

Hello to the latest newbies. Hope you are enjoying the site. flowers

My children called my mother Black Mam, as she had black hair and was Welsh. My husband's mother was Green Mum. We never knew why.

Greenfinch Fri 19-Feb-16 21:29:34

Could it be eczema ? You need to take him to the doctor for a proper diagnosis and he will probably give you some cream to relieve the itching. Otherwise ring 111.He could be allergic to washing powder you use.Try another one.

debbie15 Fri 19-Feb-16 18:47:38

grannymilne Fri 19-Feb-16 11:42:22

Hi Everyone. Apologies for the unimaginative username but every other combination of my name got rejected. I became a granny 3 weeks ago and am in love with my granddaughter already.
