Welcome lolarabbit, you don't need to be a grandparent to enjoy this site. One warning - you might still be in bed at lunch time if you log on at morning tea!flowers

Hello. Just discovered GN after lurking on MN for a while but thinking maybe I'm a bit too old:/ No GC yet (and DC show no inclination) but do have a one year old great niece so hoping that qualifies me! Took early retirement last year after many years teaching 4/5 year olds, so it's a bit strange not being surrounded by little ones but I am loving all the leisure time and discovering lots of new interests. Looking forward to logging on over morning tea (ideally brought to me in bed by DH!) and finding out what are latest discussion topics.

Hi, just joined! I must admit that I didn't realise GN existed until I read an article in the paper the other day. I'm a new Granny of 6 weeks to a beautiful little boy. Looks like there are some interesting topics on the go!

Hello mancgirl, welcome.flowers
If you want to find details of forthcoming meet-ups, go to 'Forums' then 'Meet-ups/where are you', and see if there is anything planned which is local to you.

mancgirl Tue 16-Feb-16 22:31:24

Sounds interesting! Where do you meet?

annodomini Tue 16-Feb-16 20:35:02

From time to time we have meet-ups of NW grans, so hope to meet you one day.

mancgirl Tue 16-Feb-16 20:15:02

Yes I do. Name was a bit of a giveaway I suppose ☺Couldn't think of anything witty like some on here!

annodomini Tue 16-Feb-16 17:16:45

Welcome to G'net everyone. mancgirl, does your name mean that you either live or originate in Manchester? There are quite a few of us there or thereabouts.

Patsy429 Tue 16-Feb-16 16:48:53

I was known as Nanna by the seaside, the other was Nanna in the country! I think I had the best name (but there again, she probably does as well).

mancgirl Tue 16-Feb-16 11:12:53

Hi. Thank you for your welcome messages☺x Can't believe dgs has completely filled our hearts and minds. The parents send lots of pics and clips which we look at constantly even though we are fortunate enough for them to live only 3 miles away and we have seen him lots. Looking forward as you say to lots of fun ahead! !

shysal Tue 16-Feb-16 09:10:28

Congratulations on becoming a grandparent mancgirl, you have years of fun ahead! Welcome to Gransnet! flowers

Gransnet - what a great find! So much on here that I could spend hours reading everything! We are grandparents to our first grandchild, a little boy born 5 Feb. We are absolutely besotted and love him so much! Nan and grandpops are ournames which will probably get shortened to pops I expect. Looking forward to finding out all about being grandparents and investigating the many other forum topics that have already caught my eye!

UkeCan61 Sat 13-Feb-16 09:23:40

Thanks Shysal. I daresay I'll get to grips with the site as I go along. wink

Hello to all the newbies and welcome.
Thank you shysal for welcoming everyone on our behalf.
Can I just plug the local Gransnet sites which can be found through the link on the top menu bar. They really do need locals to add their favourite businesses and events as well as chatting about local issues on the forums and organising local meetups.

shysal Fri 12-Feb-16 07:37:01

Hi lynnie1, welcome. Please don't apologise, it is by no means compulsory to post on this thread! A few do, many don't. I hope you are enjoying GN, but be warned, it can be a time waster addictive!

lynnie1 Thu 11-Feb-16 23:53:34

Please accept my apologies. I just jumped right in posting, without reading this :/ Hi everyone, Mrs Impulsive checking in,

shysal Thu 11-Feb-16 16:27:01

Welcome to the latest group of newbies flowers. NanTheWiser, you sound like you would have plenty of interesting things to say!
Noona, May I suggest you start a new thread under Forums then Meet-ups/where are you. In that way you may chat to anyone local to you, which could lead to a brew wine.

NanTheWiser Thu 11-Feb-16 12:31:06

I joined GN some months ago, after the MN hack! I usually look in most days, but have never posted, (would only do so if I have anything interesting to say!)
I'm 69, with a daughter (38), and GS (15) and GD (18). Widowed 4 years ago, but loving my freedom.
Currently going through the long process of refurbishing my house, kitchen next!!
