Hi mrspeacock, I am ashamed to say that I am one of those who doesn't bother with my local site, I prefer the larger picture. I hope all your efforts will pay off. flowers

Hi everyone, I'm the ed for Worcestershire gransnet and I'm finding it an up hill struggle to get it off the ground! So far we have managed one meet up which went well. I've given out a lot of leaflets about gransnet as SO many people say gransnet - never heard of it!
I'm shortly going to target Worcester with info probably next week. Ive had no joy with the local press they don't seem interested.Help ! Any suggestions? Am feeling a bit down about it at the moment, it seems to me that some people don't bother with their local site![

Hi Kipper1953 - I suspect we're the same age judging by your name. smile

Pittcity Wed 04-Nov-15 08:24:38

Hello and welcome to all newbies.
Please do take an interest in your local site. Local editors are one person working part time and they rely on you adding your favourite restaurant, plumber, hairdresser etc and chatting about local issues on the forums to make the sites look appealing.
I have been a local editor since GNlocal started and really enjoy it.

After a very hectic summer, including six weeks abroad, I've been slightly out of the loop on Gransnet. So it's great to be back and to see so many new names popping up on threads. Welcome to all newbies and here's hoping you get to enjoy the fun, the madness - and the very real and welcome support - that is Gransnet. smile

Hello Sillysue, enjoy joining in! It is wonderful being a grandparent isn't it? sunshine

Sillysue Wed 28-Oct-15 21:28:45

Hello all!
I have just joined, I'm looking forward to joining in with all the forums that ive been lurking over.
I have three gorgeous grandchildren and feel a very lucky nan! And love watching my babies be parents!

shysal Wed 28-Oct-15 18:31:05

I get the feeling that most local sites are under used. I never look at mine, preferring the whole range of threads. Good luck if you choose to persue the local editor idea, you sound ideal.

discorpion Wed 28-Oct-15 17:52:56

Thank you for the nice welcome. I live in Mansfield but am originally from Derbyshire. It's a pity my local forum for Nottinghamshire seems as dead as a Dodo! Shall I be brave and enquire about being a local editor? Is there a specific forum where I could talk to other editors? I have 30 years admin experience and am pretty good computer wise!

kittylester Wed 28-Oct-15 17:33:13

I'm impressed that you do welcome newbies Sal. I'm sure they appreciate it too. I'll try to do some more welcoming as well. flowers

Welcome everyone who has joined since I last popped on this thread! wine

To quote Delia Smith - 'WHERE ARE YOU?'

I hate to think of anyone being ignored when introducing themselves on this thread, so I watch it and try to respond each time I find a newbie has posted. Anyone else fancy doing the same a bit more often?smile
I know welcomes happen on lots of other threads, but this is the official GNHQ one. I don't want to be thought of as the pushy one who has tried to take over, which is far from my nature! [shy emoticon]thlgrin

shysal Wed 28-Oct-15 14:36:06

Hi discorpion, welcome. Indeed you will definitely get to meet some great people on here. I hope you will enjoy posting, after getting a feel of the site. sunshine

discorpion Wed 28-Oct-15 13:00:35

Hi everyone - I have been lurking and reading with interest but now feel as though I should jump in and introduce myself! I'm 51 years young with a gorgeous 15 month old grandson. My daughter has got a temporary Christmas job so I am spending more time baby sitting - not that I am complaining of course! Hope to get to know some nice people on here.

Hello Regalo, welcome to Gransnet. I am so sorry to hear about your twin GSs, what a dreadful time it must have been, something from which one can never really recover. I hope you will enjoy sharing fun times and sad on here. flowers

Regalo Tue 27-Oct-15 16:58:44

Hello...just joined today. I am grandma to four beautiful grandchildren with number 5 on the way. Sadly we lost twin grandsons 18 months ago...the boys were born early but just not quite strong enough to live for long. A devastating time for all the family.
