Smile and agree with everything the DIL says, even when she is doing everything totally wrong. She will not bring her children up the way you did yours.

hello everyone - good thread. I too am a long time lurker, and haven't posted much. There are probably hundreds of us lurkers, who get a lot of enjoyment and support from reading the posts, but don't feel confident enough to post themselves.

I don't have any grandchildren yet, who knows if and when I will. I work part time still, but want to make more of a social life for myself, ready for when I fully retire. Nice to meet you all.

I think a new member's thread would be a good idea. I just joined by posting a comment and never bothered to say I was new. I have also started a thread which was quite exciting. GN is great, full of interesting comments, sad, happy and comforting to many. Welcome, everybody!

Hello all. Been lurking for a month or so even tho I am not a gran and not likely to be for a while yet. Dcs are ds 28, and dd23. Mumsnet has been my lifeline for many years now and I thought I'd give gransnet a try.

Hello, I am a new member of Gransnet. I joined on Monday after reading about your site in 'The Invisible Woman' by Helen Walmsley-Johnson. I have spent a couple of days browsing the site and have enjoyed reading the fashion & beauty hints as well as looking at the comments on 'Discussions of the day'. I have been a grandmother/step grandmother for a few years (my youngest is soon to be 5 the oldest 10). I have recently recovered from the grief I experienced following my husband's death 2 years ago and thought it would be great to reach out and chat to other people.
