Hi
Just joined yesterday. Have a grandson aged 8months and a lovely step grand daughter aged 7. I am nanny to my baby grandson but the 7 year old just calls me by my name.
Looking forward to exploring gransnet.....found you through your book that my sister gave me for Christmas. But now she finds she will be a nana in July so I plan to finish the book and give it her back. Some great information in there.

Hello firsttimegrandma, welcome flowers. Young parents will have masses of energy, so hope they achieve all that you/they wish. smile

hello everyone, I have joined gransnet today. I became a grandma a lot earlier than expected courtesy of my lovely 21 year old son and his partner, their beautiful baby girl arrived in September. I am keeping all fingers and toes crossed that he finishes his degree and gets a job!

Hello and welcome GlamM flowers. I live in Oxford too but my grandchildren are almost grown up now, so I can't answer your query. All I know of is the soft play at the Kassam stadium, which is more for a one-off than a regular venue.
Enjoy GN.

hello all

just joined up and have had a giggle at the old posts - Im Gma to a beautiful boy of 11 months and live in oxford . I have noticed that there are no places to speak of that are aimed at little ones that aren't in danger of closing down or bankrupting you on a weekly basis to keep active little people entertained. Does anyone in the oxford area know of any drop in centers /stay and play- coffee groups etc that are running on a thursday or friday? thanks V much

Hi Moving1, welcome! flowers I hope you will soon feel at home on here.

Moving1 Wed 28-Dec-16 19:30:25

Hello just joined . Not easy!

Ana Mon 26-Dec-16 17:36:43

Well Tricia, we'll have to wait and see how many actually dare to brave the political threads in due course...

TriciaF Mon 26-Dec-16 17:32:03

Ana - same from me. Gransnet can only benefit from a bigger range of ideas, opinions etc.
Sometimes it seems a few views predominate, and none but the brave dare to offer an alternative.

Ana Mon 26-Dec-16 17:23:58

There have been so many this Christmas - we seem to be awash with new members! Welcome one and all...hope you manage to stay the course! smile

Welcome nabob flowers. I hope you will enjoy the 'company', forums and all that Gransnet has to offer.

nabob Wed 14-Dec-16 10:24:12

I joined yesterday. I do not have children but thought that this site and forums would be a good way of keeping in contact with the real world.

Hello madcatlady. I have already welcomed you on another thread, but didn't want you to feel ignored on this one! Meet-ups are sometimes organized in various areas, so keep an eye open for any near you in the future. I hope you are enjoying GN.tchsmile

Welcome Misadventureflowers. I am glad that you have already experienced the kindness of Gnetters. I could qualify for the title of Big Nanny, but fortunately it was not suggested!

MissAdventure Mon 05-Dec-16 23:46:11

Hello all,
I'm new, but have already had some lovely folk giving me sympathy and support due to a relationships breakdown, so thanks
I started reading the beginning of the thread and was reminded of when my first grandson was born
His other Nan asked my daughter how she thought grandson would refer to his Nannys, and said her kids used the terms "big Nanny" and "little Nanny".
My daughter jumped straight in and told her that there was no way I would agree to being "big Nanny".
How right she was! Lol

Welcome Llamedos13 flowers, you will soon feel at home! Love the reversible name!

Elegran Mon 28-Nov-16 12:28:27

Sorry, just seen the forums button is grey, not mauve!

Elegran Mon 28-Nov-16 12:27:45

You go to the list of topics (select the mauve "forums" button up near the top left of the page) select what topic to put your post on and then follow instructions. If our topic is the same as the thread you are reading at that moment (this one is "Chat"), you click on "chat" at the start of the thread and are taken to somewhere you can start a new thread on that subject.

When you have done it once, it is easy! You will be starting new threads every few minutes!

Hello MummyBtothree flowers. A bit of young blood is always welcome! I hope you will find plenty to interest and entertain you. I presume you know of our sister site, Mumsnet, which you may also enjoy.

MummyBtothree Mon 28-Nov-16 00:42:35

Hello to all flowers hope you don't mind me joining here. Im 37 and from Derby, married with three boys. Not a grandparent quite just yet but value the company of other mums who I probably wouldn't get the opportunity to assosciate with otherwise. I'm estranged from my mother who has been anything but a mother to me, so it's nice being on here to have the company of lovely ladies who do hold the title of mum and deserve it smile

Hello and welcome, Grannytwo flowers. I am afraid reading the threads can be time consuming and addictive! I hope you will enjoy the site.
