Hello, Good Morning & HI. I am a newby here but, I hasten to add, how can I be classed as a newby at 80 years old? Things have been a bit rough for me recently and at the moment I am imprisoned in my own house. However, the warder, my wife, is a gem and looks after me very well. I hope she reads this then I may get an extra biscuit for tea. She has me to contend with, a budgie, and a big dog, both of whom are as old as me. The dog, Benny, is a rescue dog and is quite a handful. Benny is a Staffy and is big, black, hefty and barks at everyone he sees but only because he wants to make a fuss of them. People of course don't know this and give him a wide berth................ AAHHH, some cheese sarnies have arrived so I will pause here for my lunch and play with Joey after which I will return and tell you more. Bye for now, Brian.

Hey there, we followed the instructions for the new Fridge Freezer and all is well. It is going to be a real boon for SWMBO as the old FF is in the basement which meant going through the conservatory, outside into all kinds of weather, down a flight of steps, across a lawn and into the basement to the old, FF. Now, all she has to do is walk from the kitchen about three yarda into the conservatory 'et voila', there are all the goodies. smile...
Must tell you about Bennys' first three days here later.
Bye for now
Mr. & Mrs. Bumblebee.
P.S. Big hug for Georgie. Oh, and a kiss from Benny. .....
What's that? Ahh, yes, a tweet from Joey.

Glad you have the new fridge freezer Bumble. They always suggest standing for a few hours after transit to allow the fluid to settle, then a while to get the temperature down to the required level.

Bellanonna Sun 19-Feb-17 13:48:04

Oh I see ! ?

Judthepud2 Sun 19-Feb-17 13:44:19

Ah! Georgie actually has a rather lovely KC pedigree name which is Golden Trisk but grandsons wanted to name her Georgie after Georgie Best. They are football fans!

Bellanonna Sun 19-Feb-17 13:32:30

Oh I've just re-read my post. I actually meant Georgie. !!

Bellanonna Sun 19-Feb-17 13:30:15

Ah, I just wondered, Jud. Do you mean your cousins added the pud bit? I always think of Jud in your case as sounding like Jude ((as opposed to Judd). I love Hey Jude, one of their best-lived songs I think?

Judthepud2 Sun 19-Feb-17 12:57:13

Good morning afternoon Bumblebees and friends.

Hope the new fridge freezer is now well filled and in operation.

Yes it is so sad to lose a pet. Have lost several cats in the past, but a dog is even more distressing IMO! When we arrived at the vet hospital with Georgie we thought she was a gonner. I was in floods, and even DH who doesn't believe in tears as a rule, was struggling. I made up my mind then that there would be no more dogs if she died.

Luckily, she is very much still with us.

Bellanonna do you mean my GN name? This is what my cousins used to call me as a child! I hated it then, but enjoy using it now. Most posters on here who address me directly call me Jud. Like it. At family weddings, 'Hey Jude' is always played for me at the evening do and family gather round and sing it to me grin

well, today the new fridge freezer arrived, at 8:30am. For some reason it has to stand for 4 hours before we can plug it in. Then we have to wait another 2 hours before we can put food in it. confused... Does anyone know why we should have to do this?

BB. Benny is one very lucky little dog !

bumblebee123 Sat 18-Feb-17 19:42:59

Hello Bella, it is really heart breaking to lose a pet and, like you, we said we would never have another dog. On the day we lost Boo, a Jack Russell, the tears were flowing. We thought about our decision not to have any more dogs but we couldn't help thinking about those poor doggies in kennels waiting for someone to take them home and give them lots of TLC. We got into the car and went to a rescue kennels. There we saw Benny, a big, black, old staffy with bad back legs who had been in kennels for two years and nobody wanted. We know that he won't live very long but we will make sure that he enjoys what life he has left. Since we collected him in April his health has improved and his muscles in his back legs are getting stronger. I can tell that he has been ill treated in the past. However, he is now taking over here and he has got us well trained. He tells us, and I know you might not believe this, he tells us when it is time for us to go to bed. Not only that, Joey the budgie, joins in with him. OH, if only Walt Disney was still alive. When I watch Benny I think he is re-incarnated. It is giving us so much pleasure to be with him. We are so lucky to have him. I have a few stories to tell you about him which I will do in the near future. They will make you smile.
AND NOW, something that really made me sad. I have already typed this letter out once but when I did a 'Preview Message' on it, it disappeared. OOOHHHHH, that is so maddening. If you see another copy of this strolling around the Forums please send it back to me.
Bye for now. Mr.& Mrs. Bumblebee.

No problem Sal, I'll put a picture of my mother in law on the door. HAHAHAHAHA
HAH OH HA HA HA OUCH. What was that for?
See you in A&E

shysal Sat 18-Feb-17 17:42:23

You should be able to buy a huge fridge freezer for 43p! Will you manage to keep your stuff frozen until the new one arrives?

bumblebee123 Sat 18-Feb-17 17:18:40

Sal, you hit the nail on the head.
...................
This morning while we had Joey in the conservatory for his morning play, some of the electrics went off. We pressed the reset button and all was well for 2 minutes then it went off again. Did the reset and once again the electric came back on. This happened a few times and one by one we started disconnecting electrical items until we found the problem. It was the fridge freezer. WAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH. We emptied our pockets and money banks, went round the neighbourhood doing some early carol singing and managed to raise 43p. My managing director, SWMBO, made a phone call and tomorrow, Sunday, we are having a brand new fridge freezer delivered. Another funny thing, my wallet has disappeared. hmm

Just found this interesting thread. Shysal, I hope the GS is comfortable but what a pain for him to be in plaster for six weeks.
Bumblebee i gather you need to keep walking to help your mobility. Sorry that you are in pain but admire your sense of humour.
Your little dog looks lovely. My lovely cross breed had to be put down at 17. It broke my heart. Well shortly after that I did have a heart attack. I didn't meet any of the criteria for having one, it just happened. I wouldn't want to go through that sorrow again but love hearing about other people's dogs and other pets.
I spent part of this morning with a friend who is doing fundraising for Guide Dogs. The couple were given a small puppy and are involved in her training. She is now 7 months and I met her for the first time today at the local garden centre where the fundraising was taking place. My friend has to take her on the bus and on a train every week and go on training days. It's very time consuming and quite a strict project but the couple are enjoying it greatly. The dog was very lively and friendly when I met her today and if she does turn out to have a very friendly and lively nature she will be placed with a normally sighted family. Only one in three actually makes it. So that was my morning and im now sitting with the patio door open listening to birdsong in the garden. Bliss. Nice to meet you Bumblebee, and good wishes to Sal's GS and the lovely Georgie. Jud, who chose the name ? Just curious.

One problem with old age is that there is always something that hurts or doesn't work!sad

bumblebee123 Sat 18-Feb-17 08:44:21

Hi Sal, both forearm bones broken you say, that's the radial and the ulnar. Must have been one heck of a bump. I thought at first it might have been a greenstick fracture but I guess he's passed that age. WOW, I can remember the first aid I learnt nearly 70 years ago. Wish him 'good health' from two old fa.. err two old err, oh, two oldies. smile I had a bad fall last year and my right leg was useless. It is doing great now but, the rest of my body is useless. grin
Bumblebee..

shysal Fri 17-Feb-17 16:56:08

Thank you for your kind wishes, Mr and Mrs B. I have just got back from seeing GS at the hospital. The two broken forearm bones were re-aligned with wires, Hopefully going home tomorrow, and he will be in plaster for about 6 weeks. The young heal quickly, so I am confident that he will be fine.

bumblebee123 Fri 17-Feb-17 10:23:30

Sorry to hear about your grandson Sal. We hope that all goes well for him. Keep us informed.
Mr. & Mrs. Bumblebee.

shysal Fri 17-Feb-17 09:52:13

Great news about your doggy, Jud, hope the progress continues.
I am having an anxious morning, as 13 year GS broke his arm badly at football training last night and is awaiting an operation. They won't know the full extent of the injury until they open him up. It is going to be a long day, op at around 11.30am, he must be very hungry by now!

bumblebee123 Fri 17-Feb-17 09:13:24

Hello everybody, today I will, hopefully, take another short walk. Seems as it is going to be a cloudy but dry day. I am not sure what to do after that but I will keep checking around the forums for fresh messages. I would like to write lots of life's happenings on here but I don't want to become a bore. I would also like to hear what you all do from day to day. You know, there are no strangers in the world, just a lot of friends I haven't met yet. smile
Bye for now.
Bumblebee.

Judthepud2 Fri 17-Feb-17 08:49:34

Glad to hear you are improving a little too BB and thank you to Mrs Bumblebee for her good wishes to Georgie.

Hope you have a better day.

Chewbacca Fri 17-Feb-17 08:44:26

grin I'll bet it does Bumble, I'll bet it does!

bumblebee123 Fri 17-Feb-17 08:42:28

Hi, Judy, your message about Georgie has done wonders for me. Since I read about her accident I have been constantly thinking about her so the wonderful news about her standing has made my day. Go Georgie girl, we are both improving and a big kiss and cuddle for you.
Regarding Summer Wine, I appeared in an episode as an extra. It was, 'Destiny and Six Bananas'. I was a banana. grin. Nah, I was in the bus queue.
Bye for now. OH, a word from my missus Georgie, she says 'Good work, and keep it up'.
Bumblebee.

bumblebee123 Fri 17-Feb-17 08:20:16

Hi Chewbacca, I am having a loud chuckle with your reference to me walking with my legs in the air. Like me you have a sense of humour grin. Tell you what though, walking like that does make my backside sore.
Bumblebee.

Judthepud2 Thu 16-Feb-17 23:14:57

Hello BB. My FIL used to love 'Last of the Summer Wine'. I think he saw much of himself in the old friends. Any excitement? Well yes. For us. Our little injured spaniel stood up herself today! Huge progress!
