Congratulations cornerandmrcorner have a lovely day with happy memories.

cornergran Wed 01-Mar-17 09:23:57

Enjoy the wine n&g, after all, it's wrong to waste things grin. Thank you for your good wishes. Don't have regrets about your thread, as I said, it's a different world out there.

Wishing you both well, hope today is as OK as it can be Mawb. The packed bag could well be the decider. I'm a great 'just in case' person. Drives Mr C potty smile.

Still loitering in bed, really must get up soon, grey old day but at least not snowing as it was when we married. Flipping cold then that's for sure.

NanaandGrampy Wed 01-Mar-17 09:10:46

Morning all !!

Congratulations Corner what an achievement !! I hope you have a wonderful day.

I am staying here in the kitchen- have you ever started a thread and in hindsight thought - WHAT WAS I THINKING ??????? Yep that's me - sorry.

That and I am so saddened by some Grandparents situation in regards to their grandchildren that my heart hurts.

SO --- I am off to Bluewater to buy cheese for a cheese and wine night next week when I am away with my brother and sisters and then (courtesy of a niece and nephew who bought me a voucher for my big birthday last year) we are having lunch. My predicament is it comes with a glass of wine each and also one of prosecco. Grampy will be driving of course as it is my birthday treat so do I :

a) only drink my 2 glasses and WASTE the other 2?
or
b) drink the lot , sing slightly blue sea shanties all the way home and stagger to bed for a nap afterwards?

yes - you've guessed it . B it is then..... Oh this is number one and my stories just begun, roll me over, lay me down and do it again...lalalal smile

Happy days all and safe travels Maw

MawBroon Wed 01-Mar-17 07:04:57

Dithered last night between giving up alcohol or chocolate for Lent. And then thought which is more essential to my sanity and not mere indulgence.( If anybody has an answer I might welcome it!) As I had a wine in my hand at the time I thought I might go for chocolate -or not, if you see what I mean!
DH. seems brighter today, I can hear him shaving which is a start. We go at 9 and it takes him a good 2 hours to get up/breakfasted etc.
Packed a bag for him, which is bound to trigger an improvement hmm
Have a pleasant day all, hope to catch up later.

grannyqueenie Tue 28-Feb-17 23:56:21

Yes please, I'm thinking only thinking mind of giving up alcohol for Lentshock, so I need all the help I can get!

NanaandGrampy Tue 28-Feb-17 23:33:21

Be quick !!! I'm tucking in like there's no tomorrow. You're right it is a different world out there and sometimes, like tonight, I get a glimpse of things to come and I'm afraid .

More cake ?

cornergran Tue 28-Feb-17 23:29:45

P J Masks is an unknown to me, but your Gecko looks good n&g. I always take a hard hat and a thick skin when I venture out. Also I find a large pinch of salt helps. It's a different world out there. Any cake left?

NanaandGrampy Tue 28-Feb-17 23:06:32

I have made the mistake of venturing out into the forum and am feeling pretty sad . I want to say I'm so lucky to be able to see my grandchildren pretty much when I want . Maybe I'll stay here for a while ( eating leftover cake) xx

NanaandGrampy Tue 28-Feb-17 19:47:09

Evening all!

Been a busy day here including swimming and such . Lots to catch up with.

Great news about Georgie !! I hope her incontinence does start to improve. Sorry to hear about DH , poor soul. I feel for him . I believe Grace is simply conserving energy smile . Sam feels the same after being 'loved ' all afternoon by Cooper. I've added his picture !

You must be a little worried about Bracken soop, I'm sure she's fine just having a vacation maybe?

I thought I'd share a picture of our latest super hero visitor - Gecko ! How many of you have seen PJ Masks ?

cornergran Tue 28-Feb-17 19:35:29

Comfortable feet are a blessing, grannyqueenie isn't it wonderful? I'm working backwards through the messages, I know, not logical but it works for me!

You must be worried about Bracken, soop. Do you think its possible she has decided to be independent and moved on? I'm pleased MacS saw sense and didn't search too far. Your photos of your locality always look so peaceful, but then I can't hear the wind and feel the chill. We began in bright sunshine but along came torrential rain again, its getting boring now. Your visits to the care home are never boring, that's for sure. Rescued by the fire alarm by the sound of it. You are allowed to be tired. A change of computer sounds exciting, if it is a little speedier it may cope better with the vagaries of your internet connection. Always hopeful, that's me smile.

Maw and Tizliz I feel for you with your canine friends. A decision we have made twice, it is so difficult. I do think I agree with the concensus, Maw, all the time Grace is comfortable and enjoying being with you then don't worry about difficult decisions. Lona is right, you have enough on your plate right now. The bag in the car is so sensible. Not sure I can do too much cheering, sorry, other than by sharing that I walked straight past the Hairdresser this morning (my destination) and walked into the Chemist. It took a few seconds and a very mumbled excuse before I escaped. Oh dear, still blush - feel free to laugh, I did afterwards, as did my hairdresser who already thinks I'm related to the March Hare.

So pleased to see Georgie Jud, she looks so much better, its amazing. Less pleased the incontinence hasn't improved. Hopefully her garden forays will reduce things a bit.

Sorry Suffolk is as damp as Somerset, kity, but do hope your break is restorative. Beautiful area. We were nomadic in the early days and lived in both Suffolk and Norfolk, I always wanted to go back to live there again, never made it though. There is still time smile

Sady the cough is still with me, x-ray was clear which is good so I am convincing myself it is just a matter of time. 12 weeks now, do you think its a record? There is a little more energy, have been out a bit, just the hair cut today but it counts hmm. Its our anniversary tomorrow, 48 years, now where did they go? We plan a quiet lunch, may come back via a garden centre for a celebratory plant, we don't really do gifts but like to mark the day with something.

grannyqueenie Tue 28-Feb-17 18:12:57

Soop that fishing boat photo just reminded me of those Para Handy tv programmes years ago. Lovely to see the blue skies too. It's been freezing cold here today but we almost had some sunshine so managed a decent walk before the showers came. Hope that elusive kitty shows up soon!
maw you must be constantly on edge worrying about your man. I do hope the day worked out better than you feared and your husband is ok and was seen by the doc. How sad that you have the added concern for your much loved Grace too.
Jud you are really amazing with all you're doing for your beautiful dog. It's lovely to hear that some bits are improving now, none if that would be happening without your care.
Thinking of you too kitty in all the busyness that a death brings. Hope you're managing to grab some time for yourself as well. flowers
I'm feeling like a new woman now the chiropodist has hacked away at my gruffalo claws toenails and generally given my tootsies a bit of an MOT. Tomorrow's walk should certainly be more comfortable than today's was grin

soop Tue 28-Feb-17 17:31:15

Lona Your message makes such good sense. smile

Good afternoon, whitewave. I've been gardening. My fingers are numb with cold but I've made inroads in amongst the dead stuff clogging the rockery.

Time for a welcome brew. I took the photos mid afternoon. The peaks had a good covering of snow on them earlier today. Not a lot remains.

There is still no sign of Bracken. MacS went a short way into the copse to search for her. It's on a steep slope. Ground underfoot boggy. I didn't want him to venture too far in case he fell.

Love to you all. Keep cosy and safe. moon

whitewave Tue 28-Feb-17 16:53:55

jud good hear. Ever onwards!!

Lona Tue 28-Feb-17 16:49:26

Maw flowers Unless Grace is yelping with pain, I wouldn't be too worried about her at the moment. She is coping with whatever old age is plaguing her with and goodness only knows you've got enough to worry about!
Look after yourself too xx

Bellanonna Tue 28-Feb-17 14:20:08

Maw we have a bag ready packed, at my insistence, after an embarrassing mad rush a year ago after the first blue light rush to A&E. DH has always looked after himself and knew where everything was but I had a job to find things, in particular the meds which were rather untidily scattered in a drawer. I did get everything together in the end but forgot the shaving brush. So now there's a duplicate set of most things including a small cache of meds which would then be topped up in hospital. The bag is packed and ready but definitely not rearing to go. Yes, be prepared with it in the car, or however you get to London. So sorry to hear about this new setback and thank goodness he will be seen tomorrow. Hope your leg is up to the job too. Life is the proverbial bitch sometimes. ?

soop Tue 28-Feb-17 13:49:34

MawB Our posts crossed. I think that your lovely cleaner has the right idea. If I were you, I would pack the bag. Something is definitely not right. Is it worth talking to your GP?
Grace appears to be content. I feel for you and Tizliz as only you can decide when to let your beloved animals "run free". We've been in that position. Even now, the memory of having to call the vet, makes me cry. flowers

soop Tue 28-Feb-17 13:39:44

Dear Jud Us lot are thrilled to hear that Georgie continues to recover, albeit at a gentle pace. She must be made of stern stuff to have survived the trauma of the accident. You, Jud, are made of the same stern stuff. Your dedication and devotion have worked wonders.
We do understand that your days are so much busier right now. A short update, (and possibly a photo of Georgie girl) from time to time, is a treat that we look forward to.

corner I've been sitting with M in the care home. My chair was too close to the very large television screen and the sound was deafening. I barely understood a word of our so-called conversation. M tried to force feed me with a wee pancake sticky with maple syrup. I declined. The fire alarm drill took place...a hoover was used to suck up all the debris on the carpet... by the time I left, I was exhausted. What a morning!

kitty MacSporran is toying with the idea of treating me to a reconditioned computer. He will use my present machine in the loft (where he is surrounded with stuff that may come in useful!) Whatever happens, like you, if the weather turns foul, I shall continue to have an iffy connection. It's par the course in Kintyre.

I took the photo of the fishing boat through the window at breakfast time.

Tizliz Tue 28-Feb-17 13:24:10

Oh MawBroon I feel for you. My 10 year old Belgian shepherd seems to be hanging on. Some days he chases round the garden, then other days I feel his walk is too long for him. He was restless last night which worried me. Why do we love them so much?

MawBroon Tue 28-Feb-17 13:19:31

Lovely picture of dear little Georgie and encouraging news. You and she are really getting there!
Cheering up request now please sad
DH went back to bed about 11 o clock and is sound asleep. He had a bad night, felt sick several times but didn't bring up anything worthy of mention. He feels totally washed out (already) and (TMI alert ) I am sure there is blood in his stools -you know when you've been eating beetroot? Well the loo looks a bit like that (like most men he never looks behind him when he is done, so muggins has to pop in with the loo brush at regular intervals! )He has a London hospital appointment tomorrow, thank goodness, provided he is well enough to get there. My lovely cleaner suggested I pack a bag for him and leave it in the car just in case.
Still concerned about Grace -good days and "old" days. I had this dream last night that we were out on some moors with children, ponies and Grace and she was galloping around having a wonderful time. What is my unconscious telling me? Should I let her "run free " or is she OK for a bit yet? Getting teary just thinking about it.
She looks contented enough today I think you would agree, but who knows? I just know that I simply cannot face "that" decision yet.

Judthepud2 Mon 27-Feb-17 23:49:20

Hello all. So sorry I haven't made it into the kitchen for a while. Quite a lot of childminding and other family stuff taking up my spare time, and of course Georgiecare.

Here is the photo that Lona saw on Instagram. G's walking is coming on although she tends to look as if she has consumed several glasses of wine grin. Her left hind leg isn't as good and tends to wrap itself around the right. In the house as our downstairs floors are all hard, she tends to do the splits, and so resorts to scooting about like a seal. But this has led to development of friction sores on her hind legs that need cleaned and bandaged every day.

We have been letting her out into the garden several times a day for a trot about without a nappy. Bless her, she has no idea how to control her bladder etc. So unfortunately, no. Incontinence is still her main problem. Wearing, but I think we have it under control. It does mean she needs washed every day.

Yesterday as a treat I took her to the beach which was one of her favourite free running places. She was so excited and coped well with the sandy surface, but I kept her on the harness and lead to prevent her from hurting herself. To get there, we used her pink buggy which generated quite a lot of attention!

The rehabilitation vet is pleased with her progress and noticed that her eyes are not as crossed as they were, indicating that the neurological damage is beginning to heal.

To all of you suffering from illness and frustrations, ((hugs)). I have read all your posts but no time to reply to all. Love to see all your photos of scenery, pets and GCs. Have a peaceful week. I'll pop in from time to time when I can.

kittylester Mon 27-Feb-17 21:03:05

Hello all, I am keeping up with everyone's news but don't have time to post lots of replies and the signal is decidedly iffy in this bit of Suffolk. If the wind blows hard, the Internet goes down grin

Take care everyone! flowers

cornergran Mon 27-Feb-17 18:44:16

No visible sunset here this evening, grey old day and oh so wet. I am convinced I would recover properly if there was sunshine. hmm. Good to share your sunset soop.

That's good news about Georgie, pleased for her and of course her human family. Hope the bladder control is back. You made me laugh, greyduster. We did the school run today and implored two little girls to avoid the mud on the way to the car. Entreaties fell on deaf ears of course, if it stops raining we will get the mud out grin.

We've had our pancakes a day early so the children will get some twice - well, what is a grandparent to do? So sadly too full for healthy soup, it might have been better for the digestion if I had found the soup first smile.

soop Mon 27-Feb-17 18:09:01

Greyduster I bet it's quiet. We used to call the game 'Moanopoly' because the youngsters would mutter...'that's not fair...'

Have just this minute taken a photo of the sunset. It isn't as dramatic as some...but it is still a joy to behold. smile

Good night to all you lovely people. moon

Greyduster Mon 27-Feb-17 17:41:34

soop I doubt two border terriers could have got half as muddy as GS and his grandad when they came back from playing football (they were on the way back by the time I summoned up the enthusiasm to join them). They'd were caked - not muddy paw prints, but muddy footprints all over the hall floor! We ended the afternoon finishing a game of monopoly we started last week. He has gone home now. Gosh it is quiet here.

I saw the picture of jud's dog, only a still, but she looked raring to go, which is good to see.

soop Mon 27-Feb-17 16:32:09

Lona Georgie on the beach...now that's what I call a real treat, not only for her but for Jud and for all G's merry band of fans. Thank you for sharing the news.

Greyduster Well now, you would have been very sorry if the tree surgeon had done himself a mischief. Best let him do something less hazardous for the rest of the day.
As for swapping your darling grandson...you know darn well that you wouldn't swap him for two border terriers. Well, terriers do get into mischief, AND they leave muddy paw prints over a clean floor. On with your virtual football boots. You know that it makes sense.

Argh! Bags me ole pal, good of you to call in and leave what sounds like a must have soup for supper. Us lot are mighty grateful. The sun is shining brightly. It's been a lovely day in every way. With luck, there will be a photographable sunset. If so, I post the image for you.
