I am getting concerned because we haven't heard from Jud for a while. Does anyone have news?
Good Morning Saturday 25th April 2026
What's going on , on the street outside your home right now?
Welcome to the *Gransnet Café. This is a non-judgemental space for you to pop in for a cuppa with some virtual friends, seek out advice for a particular problem, or share an update on your life - important or trivial. Feel free to have your say and chat about your day, but please leave any arguments at the door. If you're struggling to find someone to talk to in real life, or are simply looking for a bit of a chat, this is the place for you.
All ready for business...pull up a chair
I am getting concerned because we haven't heard from Jud for a while. Does anyone have news?
Good morning to our lovely Granspals. The sun is shining. A good start to the day.
Charleyg you deserve a break. Enjoy your meeting with Granspals. Return refreshed. Good luck with the snag list. We have one that goes back thirteen years. I've learned to live with stuff that annoys me (if I let it.)
corner I've never heard of Gumtree. Ebay has it's uses. I consider it to be a good buyers market. Whereas selling on the site isn't up to much.
Grannylyn Below, is one of the outfits that is going to the posh shop.
I slept the sleep of the dead last night and after a couple more coffees I must do some work- washing, cleaning and sorting. Just what I want on the only day off I get each week.
Tomorrow I am meeting two GNs for coffee-we are in our 3rd year now. I am looking forward to that.
When I return I will do a walk about with the boss doing a snag list- no doubt his will be rather different from mine. I was born Virgo so true to form I am a nit picker.
I have used Gumtree, charley. There may be a better site local to you but worth checking it out for your area. More straightforward than eBay to use, had had more success with Gumtree. Shame you need to part with them.
soop, how I wish anyone would want my cast off clothing, not sure mine are even useful to the charity shop, suspect they go straight to a recycling outlet
. Hope you do well with yours.
grannylyn65 I agree, I would probably be paid to keep my clothes.
Excellent if you make extra dosh soop.
Does anybody know on which site, not ebay, where I can sell what was an expensive glass dining table and 4 white chairs?
No one would want mine !
Greyduster Very funny.
Izabella Silver streaks...yay! Go for it.
Whisky fruit scones...oh, go on then, if you insist. Just to be sociable, mind.
Swanny Thank you. Still very sore. Have an appointment with nurse on Wednesday for a change of dressing.
I've been up to my eyes in a job that had to be given my utmost attention...
A friend who lives in Edinburgh, but also has a home nearby, called in for a chat during the week. I told her that I was preparing for one almighty blitz of my wardrobes. She later emailed to say that she knew of an outfit for posh frocks (of which I've many) and suggested I made up a few parcels which she'll pass on for me. I said that we would split any lolly that may result. I have a passion for fashion. Great! Except I rarely have the opportunity to wear the grander items that have taken up too much wardrobe space. Letting go of many prized garments, has been a difficult task.
I have finished the cataloguing and wrapping in tissue and finally, like Charleyg, "I'm beginning to see the light..." AND it feels mighty good. In due course, if anything sells, I shall update you. If not, I shall keep quiet.
Time to say adieu. G&T about to be offered. Wishing you all a pleasant and peaceful evening.

Oh dear Galen, I've been there, know how frustrating the wretched bug is. I think, she says with crossed fingers, I've finally beaten it but it took ages. Please don't rush back to work this time, the only way I finally got rid of mine was to actually rest. It did the trick.
My last birthday cake was a Star Wars one - not that I could eat it as not GF - but it was chosen with love.
. Can't wait to see what this year brings. Maybe I will make one this time, safer.
Take care everyone, keep safe and well.
Lunch is done, the boys have gone to the match, and it is soooo quiet. I am trying to make my mind up whether to tie some flies or hop on the bus to M&S and have a look for some new trousers. No brainier really - an afternoon of fly tying it is then!
N&G I will have to catch up on that Alan Titchmarsh episode, it sounds interesting. Some of the best fly fishing is found in Hampshire's chalk streams, but it comes at a price that is beyond pockets of mere angling mortals such as I! But you don't need crystal chalk streams to find good wild brown trout, and, close up, there is no prettier creature in nature.
I love the picture of your grandsons - and I know exactly what you mean about the cake! Like mine, your DD will have been just as pleased to have a cake with, in our case, Ninja Turtles on the top as mine was, because, like my GS, they chose it!
Galen I'm sorry you are ill again. Sounds like you could do with some Caribbean sunshine aboard your cruise ship sooner rather than later. I loved your joke though. Here I see another that my son told me today: "Marriage is like a deck of cards; when you start out all you need is two hearts and a diamond. Somewhere down the line, you could end up wishing you had a club and a spade!!"
Right, I am off to explore the mysteries of the dubbing loop. Don't ask!
wobbly sorry to hear of the delay after the excitement of having the op sooner than expected. The possibility of painkillers causing the stomach pains is very real. Hope you get reassuring news next week.
charley I've thought of you the last couple of days. I'd had to call a department head on Thursday about him taking too much money on a direct debit. He was very much along the line of 'I'm the expert in this matter and I know what I'm doing', whereas I was telling him paperwork I'd received proved he was wrong. He eventually promised to check and ring back, which of course he didn't, so I rang him again yesterday. What a difference a day makes! Apart from actually saying sorry, he couldn't have been more apologetic!
N&G hope the birthday party goes well and your daughter enjoys her Paws Patrol cake
soop hope you shin skin is healing and you're feel a wee bit better.
ann what will be, will be. I think you may be envisioning catastrophes all the time you'll be away but I sincerely hope you get some time to unwind a bit with your friends. Enjoy their company, sit back and if you fall asleep in the armchair that's ok, as there's someone else around to make sure H is safe (((hugs)))
Well, I am rushing in again this time with whisky fruit scones. Plenty of them as did a double batch. I also have some home made butter from my friend but I shall very selfishly keep that for me. So dig in.
It's raining outside so I thought I would have a foray into a couple of other threads and was having an informed and throught provoking read about Scotland and independence votes etc. However, it descended into the usual ? So I am back here.
Sorry to hear about your disappointment WB. I cannot think how you must feel other than extremely let down and angry
. N&G I just love the cake scenario and let's face it any girl can have roses. Especially chosen cartoon cakes are for the special girls!!!
annsixty I have been following your trials and tribulations. I think you are one of life's unsung heroes and I send you a virtual medal and a gold star ⭐️
I am waiting now to we if I shall be included in the Easter celebrations with grandson. However experience has taught me not to hold my breath. However, the other grown ups are throwing a party for my birthday later this year which has cheered me no end. Silver linings and all that ............
Talking of silver, have decided to have a few silvery highlights put in my hair for the party. Sparkle things up a bit. A friend is treating me so what the heck?
Greenhouse duties next, more things to sow and a cracked pane to replace. Keep warm and safe everyone
I fear for you Galen...that was the worst joke ever
I am going to take you to task because I think you went back to work far too quickly after the initial illness. Please take this as due warning.... don't make me assemble the Gransnet nursing team to come down and finish you off nurse you !!
What's the difference between an organist and a terrorist?
You ca negotiate with a terrorist!
Galen you are going down the road of many other GNs who have been doing exactly what you are doing- taking to their bed, getting better and then succumbing again. It is not easy when you live on your own and are working. Get better soon.
N&G Your family must have non-stop celebrations of one kind or another. It's a pleasure to read your posts and enjoy your photographs.
Galen PLEASE get well soon.
As I said a few moments ago...I need to attend to stuff before I enjoy more leisure time in our kitchen.
Dear WB I can sense your disappointment and frustration. The surgery has been delayed for a very good reason. It is important that whatever it is that has presented itself and scuppered your hopes, needs immediate attention. Please update us. I'm sending a virtual, gentle hug. Gaga's thoughts on the stomach pain and NSAIDs are valid.
I have a few urgent jobs to attend to. I can see that you lot haven't been taking things easy. Catch-up will have to wait until later this afternoon.
Back in bed with another chesty bug! Getting very fed up with this.
Ann Read my lips...^You shall have your weekend away^
I now need to read back and catch up with you lot Back soon.
Wobbly I suppose at least the stomach problem has been found before your hip op but it is another buggeration.
The sun is attempting to shine here, not that I am in the mood so I will log off.
Enjoy yourself Ann, hope you get to relax a bit and your friends take some of the strain.
Let's hope your weekend is worth the pre-trip hassle, Ann. You will have others to share the load and you can enjoy their company. Good luck with the journey.
OhAnn you definitely need help in that house. I just do not I know what to do on your behalf except give you several virtual hugs.
I think by now I would have ordered a taxi taking him to Social Services telling them to deal with him because like you, I would not be able to keep my temper in check. My bank account would be empty after all of the shopping trips.
I do hope that you have a super weekend, at least there will be others around to share the stress that you are going through. Eat well and enjoy the alcohol!
N&G are you going to warn your daughter what is coming re a birthday cake? You really should know better!!!! The children are as handsome as ever.
I can assure you all I am really going to enjoy my trip away (if it kills me) as this is definitely the last one, and if I weaken please remind me of these words.
It has been so stressful and yesterday and the small part we have already had of today has nearly finished me off. H has stressed about his pills, he only takes two a day, he has stressed about his clothes, he has stressed about the journey until I truly have to walk out of the room in real anger.
I am shortly off to do a bit of totally unnecessary shopping just for a bit of peace.?
Good Morning all !!
Had a lovely day yesterday with Cooper. We took him shopping to choose a birthday cake for his Mummy for tomorrow. Bad move ! She will be surprised with her paw patrol cartoon cake. Nothing would sway him towards the one covered in roses or the yummy looking chocolate cake !! Serves me right !!
I thought of you last night Grey, we were watching Alan Titchmarsh present a programme on the National Trust and they highlighted a place ( I think it was the Isle of Wight) with this crystal clear chalk filtered river where (dry??) fly fishing was invented I think. It was a beautiful place.
soop it was difficult to talk to everyone because I was at one end and you're right it wasn't easy to keep up , or hear the conversation at the other end of the table. We have arranged to go again next month but in the meantime I am meeting up with the lady who lives closest to me, so that should be fun.
That made me laugh callgirl and I know exactly how you felt !!
Crikey Charley how do you cope !! Id have left home by now !!!
I hope you he gets a good mark then Corner
Sorry to hear the bad news WB that IS a buggeration !
We are off to my oldest daughters tonight to celebrate our youngest daughters birthday for tomorrow ! Chinese food all round and a chance for the little ones to get together. I love how much they enjoy each others company .
My brother went to a St Patricks day celebration last night so I've added a picture. Sometimes I wonder about him [laugh]and the little boys went to a party ! Judging from the smiles I think they had a good time.
Oh, Wobbly, I'm so sorry that you have had this disappointment. Do please keep us informed of developments.
Ann, have a good break! I hope it goes well enough for you to try it again.
because you might need it.
Charley I don't quite know what to say to you. It's a good job you have had the whole house done as I doubt you'll ever have work done again.
