Mornin' all, clocks change tonite, that is spring forward one hour. This means that at this time tomorrow, it won't be,confused. Do you all get into gear with it or does the daylight confuse you? Looks like being a nice day so have a good un.

I totally agree with you bunnygirl.

The lighter evenings are wonderful after the gloom of winter. We normally eat around 6 but have eaten an hour later as just didn't feel hungry. Might also have been because DH was watching football and we were having a very leisurely bottle of bubbly in honour of Mothers Day. Back to normal routines tomorrow with grandchildren after school who are always starving by 5.00pm!

ginny Sun 26-Mar-17 19:22:42

Apart from waking at around normal time and it being a little later, I don't think it affects me. Love having lighter evenings and wish didn't have to go back later in the year.

It takes me weeks to adjust! I flew to Venice this morning so I am two hours out! Going to have tao treat this with Prosecco methinks.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 26-Mar-17 16:01:24

Strangely, this time I actually forgot! Thankfully as I have no appointments it doesn't matter. I normally change them during the early evening but put it off. As I felt so tired last night I went to bed at 9.30 and then it dawned on me this morning, so I changed them there and then.
I even managed to change the time on my new(ish) mobile, and that's a first.

HootyMcOwlface Sun 26-Mar-17 14:44:53

My cat will be pleased, her stomach is permanently on BST. ? She always asks for her tea at 3pm which is too early, and sits staring menacingly at me till I give her it at 4pm - so now it will be 4pm when she asks!

grandMattie Sun 26-Mar-17 14:31:18

Since i get up early in the morning, the fact that 0530 is now 0630 is a bonus - I am alone for less of the time.
On the other hand, the changing clocks always give me jet-lg, both ways, so I lose again.
DS2 was working nightshift last night and was thrilled to work one hour less!

Sheilasue Sun 26-Mar-17 14:20:42

Takes a few nights but I sleep better

Ana Sun 26-Mar-17 13:53:22

I suppose not many of us work/worked on a Sunday but my DH worked shifts and one of his colleagues turned up two hours late beause he'd changed his clocks the wrong way the previous night!

missdeke Sun 26-Mar-17 13:41:38

What makes me laugh is when they say we have an extra hour of daylight, even Monty Don said it on this week's Gardener's World!! We don't have an extra hour, it just starts and ends at different times.

sarahellenwhitney Sun 26-Mar-17 13:40:19

How many of us have forgotten to change them and been late for work because of forward, or too early when turning them back.blush

trisher Sun 26-Mar-17 11:56:11

I always do
Spring forward
Back to winter.
Worst thing was when the DCs were little and 6am starts became 5am. Hated that.

Skweek1 Sun 26-Mar-17 11:44:16

Let's stick with old-fashioned GMT - BST is a new-fangled invention introduced for benefit of farmers, who hate it. And overall it makes not the slightest difference. As a country child I always automatically reacted to natural daytime - in summer was up with the larks and would be awake till late, in winter somewhat later and tired earlier.

Cherrytree59 Sun 26-Mar-17 11:35:54

yorkshiregel and hildajenni
I say spring forward for spring and

Fall Back for autumn (as in the Canadian & USA word for autumn)

The suns got its hat on
so wishing all GNers a lovely day sunshine where ever you are

Yorkshiregel Sun 26-Mar-17 11:28:51

hildajenniJ Think:

Spring Forward (Spring meaning the season)
Jump Back

Just a little memory trick, easy to remember.

Yorkshiregel Sun 26-Mar-17 11:26:01

We change the clocks so we are in sinc with everyone else, but we only change meal times and bedtimes by half an hour. We find this works for us and is not such a shock in the routine. It works backwards an forwards depending the time of year.

OH changes our clocks before we go to bed, an I send messages so my boys are not late for work! I once went to work too early and wondered where everyone was! So funny but confusing at the time.

pollyperkins Sun 26-Mar-17 10:51:31

My DH changes all the clocks the night before so i get very confused!

inishowen Sun 26-Mar-17 10:18:36

I'm going out for a Mothers Day lunch at noon. In my mind that's still 11 am. I'm not ready to eat a big roast at that time. Help ...

gillybob Sun 26-Mar-17 09:56:00

I slept in this morning and I NEVER sleep in. Didn't even wake up until 7.40 (well 8.40) shock that's "knocked me all to pot" for the day.

hildajenniJ Sun 26-Mar-17 09:53:30

I had the usual conversation with my DD yesterday on the subject of changing the clocks. She never remembers whether it's forward or back!
I used to hate it when I was on night duty. We lost an hour and in Nursing home terms it was very confusing. Fitting in all the tasks after the hour forward, everything seemed so rushed.

rubylady Sun 26-Mar-17 00:20:46

Take an hour off Mother's Day, why don't they? Still, it does mean it is well into the day now and I can open a present, yeah!!! grin

I love it, longer nights to sit in the garden. Plus if I'm out on my scooter I like to get back before it starts going dark so now I will have extra time. Brilliant. grin

Anniebach Sat 25-Mar-17 10:04:19

Wish this clocks on and back would stop,

Cherrytree59 Sat 25-Mar-17 09:26:07

I love the lighter nights
But I used to hate the spring clock change, when I worked week-ends
Because it was usually always Mothering Sunday.

So flowers for all the ladies who have to get up an hour early tomorrow morning.

Teetime Sat 25-Mar-17 09:23:40

It means I can play golf later in the day and not have to go out at the crack of dawn (9.30!!!)
